Green, JacquelineJacqueline Green, formerly of Welland, passed away at the Hamilton General Hospital, on Friday, December 31, 1999 in her 47th year. Loving mother of Ron Paquette and Tammie (Paquette) Atkins and husband Jamie. Sadly missed but never forgotten by grandchildren Tia and Tye Atkins. Dear sister of Wayne, Henry, Ron, Winston & Derek Green, Cynthia Green, Sadie Wheeler & Silvia Green. Predeceased by her parents Henry & Florence Green. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Jacqueline lived in Toronto and the Niagara Region before settling down in Stoney Creek. She was a Member of St. Francis of Xavier, Stoney Creek. Friends called at the Cudney Funeral Chapel, 241 West Main Street, Welland. Father Ken Burns c.s.c. conducted a private funeral service from Cudney Chapel. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hamilton General Hospital I.C.U. would be greatly appreciated by the family. O'Toole, James P.Point au Mal It is with great sadness that the family of the late James P. O'Toole announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the age of 97 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Clothilda (Tillie) and four sons: Vincent (Charlotte) O'Toole in Labrador City, Jimmy (Jacquie) O'Toole in Ontario, Leonard (Mercedes) O'Toole in Labrador City, Anthony O'Toole in Point au Mal and six daughters: Ida Hawco in Port au Port, Irene Green in Florida, Mary (William) Bruce in Port au Port East, Imelda (Aloysius) Connors in Ottawa, Theresa (Albert) Murray in Labrador City, Debbie (Roger) Boone in New Brunswick and 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by one son, Joseph O'Toole. Friends may call at the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Point au Mal on Tuesday. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 5th at 2:00 p.m. from the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Point au Mal with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Point au Mal. As expressions of sympathy; flowers or donations to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Thompson, Florence Maude
(nee Curley)		Benoit's Cove, NF It is with great sadness that the family of the late Florence Thompson announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Monday, January 3rd, 2000 at the age of 86 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving family: daughters: Geraldine Quigley (Thomas) of Curling, Shirley Aronson of Toronto, ON, Regina Bastien of Wilberforce, ON and Catherine English of Beaverton, ON; son, Michael Thompson of Abbottsford, BC; sister Victoria Hackett of Pasadena, NF; 25 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jeremiah O'Connell, her second husband Albert Thompson; children, Philip O'Connell, John O'Connell, Jeremiah O'Connell Jr. and Patricia O'Connell; parents, John and Elizabeth Curley and brothers, Alton and Philip Curley. Visitation will take place at Wellington Funeral Home on Tuesday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Benoit's Cove. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Tributes may be made by sending flowers or by making donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He will be sadly missed by his sons: Kenneth (Eileen), Maxwell both of Kitchener, Ontario, Darryl, Paul, Gary (Linda), Terry (Betty) all of Howley and Ronald (Barbara) of Moncton, his daughters: Dina (Mrs. Neil Pasher) of Kitchener, Ontario, Wanda (Mrs. Wayne Combden) of Howley, Alice Cassell of Kitchener, Ontario, Louise (Mrs. Bert Rice) of Hampden, Barbara Stead of Brampton, Ontario, Jacqueline Stead of Howley and Glynis (Mrs. Daniel Ropson) of Kitchener, Ontario; 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; three brothers: David (Rita), Alex (Betty) all of Little Catalina and Herbert of St. John's; three sisters: Margaret (Mrs. William Dalton) of Little Catalina, Louise (Mrs. Earl Parsons) and Florence Foote both of Stephenville. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Irene, son Reginald and parents William and Helen Stead. Visitation will take place from the United Church in Howley today, Tuesday where also funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Simmonds officiating. Simmons, Dorothy TheresaDeer Lake Sept. 14th, 1912 - Jan. 3rd, 2000 It is with great sadness that the daughter of the late Dorothy Theresa Simmons announce her passing on Monday, January 3rd, 2000 at her daughter's residence in her 87th year. She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted daughter Ruby and son-in-law William, with whom she resided with her two special grandchildren, Lori-Ann and William Jr. Also her eight sons and two daughters, 26 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation took place from Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake on Tuesday at 2-4 p.m. Funeral services took place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Salvation Army Church with Capt. Stuckless, Joseph S.Kitchener, Ontario Passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario, on Saturday, January 1, 2000, after a brief illness, Joseph Stuckless, age 84 years. Loving husband of 62 years to the former Elizabeth Wilton, formerly of Deer Lake. Joseph was a member of St. George's of Forest Hill Anglican Church. Dear father to Tom and his wife Jean, Bernard, Douglas and his wife Judy, Fred and his wife Lisa, Robert and his wife Susan, Lillian Campbell, Myra and her husband Roy Dennis, Arlene and her husband Ray Dwyer, Diane and her husband Fred Williams, Helen and her husband John Curtis, Valerie and her husband Bill Dollner, Louise and her husband Dan Hounsell, Sharon, Sandra and her husband Doug Woodhouse**See Erratta Table below; brother to Armine Sturge; 32 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas Stuckless and Lennora Hayden; three brothers, Archibald, Robert and Garfield and one granddaughter, Denise Hounsell. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 321 Fisher Hallman Drive, Kitchener. Young, Sophia RitaBay St. George Long Term Care Center Stephenville Crossing (Formerly of Stephenville) It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sophia Rita Young announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at the age of 93 years. She will be sadly missed by two sons: Dennis Young in St. Jude's, Deer Lake, Don (Gladys) Young in Kippens and seven daughters: Madeline Cormier in Stephenville, Mary Gaudon in Alberta, Magdalen Cormier in Stephenville, Loretta Seaward in Pasadena, Maybelle (Robert) Gale in Stephenville, Dale (Allan) Francis in Desbarats, Ontario, Evelyn (Stephen) Giles in Stephenville and two brothers: Paul (Elizabeth) Rubia in St. Jude's, Deer Lake, Leo Rubia in St. John's and one sister, Maggie Renough in Toronto; 80 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Young and three sons: Leo, Permanis, Matthew and one daughter, Paulette Chaulk. Cremation service took place at Russell's Crematorium in Stephenville. Funeral service will take place on Friday, January 7th at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stephen's Parish on West Street, Stephenville. Matchem, JessieInterfaith Home Corner Brook, NF Passed away Thursday, January 6, 2000 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Jessie Matchem in her 89th year. She will be sadly missed by her sons: Tom and wife Joyce of Jeffrey's, Frank and wife Cynthia, Victoria, BC; daughter-in-law Dulcie Matchem of Mississauga, ON; brother Samuel Spencer of Port aux Basques; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Philip Matchem, 1991, and her son Samuel. The family will be receiving friends from St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Jeffrey's on Friday, followed by the funeral service Saturday January 8th at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Stewart Bellows officiating. The interment will be held at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations to the St. Mary Magdeline Anglican Church Memorial Fund will be graciously accepted. Crowley, John T.John T. Crowley passed peacefully away on November 12 in Columbus, Ohio, age 74 years. Beloved husband of Margaret, nee Leitch of Corner Brook and dear father of Mary and husband Charles Bickley of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also survived by sister Pat (John Gillhooley), brother Jim (Ethel) and Bob (Sally) and many nieces and nephews. John spent many years in Stephenville with the US Air Force. (nee LeRoux)		Passed away at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on January 2, 2000, Mrs. Shirley Raike, nee LeRoux, formerly of Deer Lake, at the age of 59 years. Leaving to mourn are her loving husband, Bob Raike of Winnipeg, formerly of Deer Lake, her daughter Cindy, her sons: Jerry, Kendell and Alan, all of Winnipeg. Also her mother, Mrs. Vida LeRoux of Deer Lake, her three brothers, Jerry (Dallace), Harry, of Deer Lake and Wayne (Lynn) of Ontario and her two sisters, Jean Barry of Corner Brook and Mrs. Ruby David (Jim) of Memphis, Tennessee. Strickland, Stanford, EthelCorner Brook, NF It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mrs. Ethel Strickland announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 6th, 2000 at the age of 77 years. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sharon Richard and husband Henri residing at Corner Brook. Her son, Frederick Strickland residing at Vancouver. Two grandchildren: Andre and Ashley residing at Corner Brook. Cousin, Arthur (Phyllis) Brewer residing at Grates Cove, NF. Two special friends: Josephine Rideout and Elsie Hynes of Corner Brook. She will be also missed by a number of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William Strickland, 1985, her sons: Wayne James, 1987, Ray, 1992, Tony, 1995, and Terrence Roy, 1999. The funeral service will take place from the Salvation Army Temple on O'Connell Drive on Sunday at 2 p.m. with interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery Vault. Visitation will take place at Wellington Funeral Home, 31 Wellington Street, phone 634-9800, Friday during the hours of 7-9, Saturday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 and Sunday during the hours of 10-12 noon.
