Sop's Island - Cemetery and Memorial Stone

While on vacation this summer, I had the opportunity to visit Sop's Island for the first time. While enjoying the abundance of strawberries growing there, I collected some information. Apparently there is another cemetery on the "other side" of the Island that has old headstones but I didn't get to visit it, that will hopefully be part of next years trip!

This cemetery only has one headstone in it for Thomas Gillingham, but while we were there, Uncle Randolph Gillingham and I placed a Memorial Stone for Jessica Cassell. Last summer the people from the community of Sop's Arm got together and listed everyone they could remember being buried there and placed a large memorial stone. Although it has no dates, I have listed the names that were provided.
