WALSH, SAMANTHA BERTHA (SAM)
A beautiful and gifted girl was taken from this world at the tender age of 13 years on Sunday, February 6, 2000 in Fleur De Lys. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Pop (John) Walsh and Pop (John) Lewis. Leaving to mourn and to forever cherish her precious memories are: her loving parents, Millie and George Walsh; her dear brother, Sandy; her grandmother, Nan (Bertha Walsh, and Mom (Josephine) Lewis; a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins (especially Steff, Elizabeth and Kenny) and a warm circle of friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Fleur De Lys on March 3, 2000. Interment followed at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fleur De Lys. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Samantha Walsh Memorial Fund at yournearedt Scotiabank branch

ROWSELL, NORMAN
Passed peacefully away on February 7, 2000 at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens' Home. He was 69. Predeceased by wife Leah, brothers John and Rex. Left with fond and loving memories are son Rhodie (Marie). Port Anson, grandsons Robert, Mark, and Adam; four stepsons, two step daughters, four sisters and a large circle of other friends and relatives. Pastors Dogulas and Sheila Purchase conducted funeral services at Redemption Pentecostal Church, Port Anson on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000. Interment followed at church cemetery, Fowlows Point

STUCKLESS, MARGARET LUCY JOHANNA
Passed away February 11, 2000, Margaret Lucy Johanna Stuckless at Baie Verte Peninsula Health center, Baie Verte. She was 65. Predeceased by parents Johnna and William Brett. Left to mourn are; husband George Stuckless; sons Robert (Dianne) of Jackson's Arm, Lloyd (Ellen) of North York, On., Calvin (Peggy) of Purbeck's Cove; daughters Janet (Roy Rice) of Seal Cove, Kathleen (Harry Gavin) of Deer lake and Lois of Purbecks Cove. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Prisilla, Bertha, Maxine, Robin, Daisy, and Marie; brothers Henry John, Alexander, Douglas, Henry, Reg and Leonard; Also left to mourn: Maude Rideout (adopted mother); 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye conducted funeral services at St. Peters Anglican Church, Westport on Feb. 15, 2000. Interment was at St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery

PYNN, BRENDA MELISSA
It is with sadness that the family of the late Brenda Melissa Pynn announces her passing at her family residence on February 15, 2000. She was 50. Left with fond and loving memories are husband - Otto; sons - Rodger (Martha), Centerville, N. S., Randy (Betty), South brook; daughter RoxanneMitchell (Albert), Woodstock, Nf.; parents - Dawe and Bessie Mitchell; Sisters - Margaret Mitchell, Peggy King (Walter), Doreen Hodder (Morris), Bonnie Mitchell; brothers - Frank Mitchell (Fannie), Junior Mitchell (Hilda), Ricky Mitchell (Ann), 6 grandchildren and a large circle of other friends and relatives. Lieutenants Robert and Denise Spurrell conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Harry's Hr. on Friday Feb. 18, 2000 with interment at the Jackson's Cove Cemetery.

KING, FLORANN
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Florann king, age 89, announce her passing on February 20, 2000, at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre. She was predeceased by her, first husband Robert Clarke; second husband Edward king; daughter, Lillian Rice; son-in-law, John Rice and Daughter-in-law Evelyn Clarke. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons Randolph Clarke, Roland Clarke (Olive), Gordon Clarke (Ella); daughters Olive Dicks (Woodrow) and Dora Regular (Allan), all of Ming's Bight. Also leaving to mourn; 39 grandchildren; 70 great grand-children ; 17 great great grand-children; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lieutenants Tony and Debbie Gosse conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Ming's Bight on Thursday., February 23, 2000, with interment following at the Salvation Army cemetery, Ming's Bight.

WARR, PHYLLIS ELIZABETH
Passed away February 21, 2000, after a lengthy illness, Phyllis Elizabeth Warr at the Valley Vista, Springdale. She was 70. Predeceased by her husband George and daughter Bonnie. Left to mourn are: sons Francis (Judy) of Springdale, Calvin of Kirkland lake, On., Frazer (Ruth) of Springdale, Dennis (Dianne) of Fort McMurray, Ab., Dean (Debbie) of Rattling Brook, Lorrie (Dianne) of Harry's harbour; daughters, Shirley (Mike Knox) of Red Lake, On., Naida (Dougald Feaver) of Springdale, Trudy of Springdale, Donna (Rob Oxford) of Springdale and Lorna (Brian Upward) of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn; sisters Lily Clarke (Calvin) Bernetta Noseworthy (Bill) Patsy Webber (Leo); brothers Arthur Saunders (Dorothy) and Gerald (Elsie); 32 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Rideout conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church, Springdale on Feb. 24, 2000. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery.

PYNN, CAROLINE RUBY
Passed away February 26, 2000, Caroline Ruby PYNN at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale. Predeceased by her husband, Gerald. Left to mourn are; son lorne (Sandra) of St. John's; daughters, Mary (Donald of Springdale, Victoria (Elvis) of Mount Pearl and Catherine (Leonard) of Conception Bay South. Also leaving to mourn: seven grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Marion Davis conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church, Springdale on Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000. Interment was at the United Church cemetery.

NEWMAN, EFFIE JOAN (NEE NEWMAN)
Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Health Sciences centre, on February 29, 2000, Effie Joan Milley (nee Newman). She was 53 years old. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband, Ted; son, Wayne of Labrador City; mother, Ethel Linfield; sisters, Golda, Bernice, Gloria and Olive; brothers, Wilfred, Donald and Douglas, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Beverly Matthews and Rev. Florence Sanna conducted the funeral service at First United Church, Pacquet on Fri., March 3, 2000. Interment followed at the United church cemetery, Pacquet.

NEWBURY, ALEXANDER JAMES
Passed peacefully away at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on March 8, 2000, Alexander James Newbury of Burlington. He was 73 years old. Mr. Newbury retired from the Department of Transportation in 1986. He was predeceased by his parents; William and Emma Newbury; sisters, Alice Slade and Elizabeth Saunders; and brothers, Francis and Archibald Newbury. Left to mourn are; wife, Daisy; son, Barry (Brenda), Brampton, On.; daughters; Shirley Wheeler (Harold), Carter's Cove, Marilyn Shelley (Tom), Fort McMurray, Ab. and Sheila Newbury, Brampton, On.; sisters Hazel King and Cora Newbury; brother, Harvey Newbury; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Stephen Matthews conducted the funeral service at Riverside United Church, Burlington on Saturday, March 11, 2000. Interment followed at Perry's Cove United Church Cemetery, Burlington.

BREEN, RAYMOND
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Breen, age 67, announce his passing on March 5, 2000, at his residence in Coachman's Cove. He was predeceased by his parents; James and Mary Ann Breen. He leaves to mourn; his brothers; William (Mary), Fort McMurray, Ab., Leonard (Elizabeth), Lawrence (Margaret), and Martin (Imelda), all of Coachman's Cove; sisters, Ellen Matthews, Brent's Cove, Theresa Kennedy (Nicholas) and Betty England (Stewart), both of Coachman's Cove; many neices and newhews, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Coachman's Cove on March 9, 2000. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Coachman's Cove.

HURLEY, JOHN M.
Passed away March 17, 2000, John m. Hurley at the CNRHC, Grand falls-Windsor. He was 59. Mr. Hurley retired from Terra Nova Mines, Baie Verte. Left to mourn are: wife, Ellen; sons, Brian (partner Deanna) of Fort McMurray, Ab. and Rhodie of Baie Verte, Nf.; Daughters, Jacqueline (husband Blair Foster) of Port Colbourne, On. and Adrienne ( husband Wish Ford) of Baie Verte, Nf.. Also leaving to mourn; 11 sisters, seven brothers, three grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Ed Brophy conducted the funeral services at St. Pius X Church,Baie Verte, Tuesday, March 21, 2000. Interment was at Our lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Coachman's Cove

HICKMAN, PEARL WINNIFRED (nee HILLIER)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Pearl Hickman announce her passing at the GBHC, Springdale on Thursday, March 9, 2000. She will be deeply missed as wife, best friend and devoted companion by her husband of 50 years, Herbert Hickman of Springdale. She was a dedicated mother to her three girls; Lillian Hickman and daughters Meeka of Montreal, Mary and Rauly Brant and three sons Rauly Jr. and Darren of Elmsdale. N.S.; Sandra and Scott Dinsmore and son Hugh and daughter Jennifer of Prince George, B.C.. She is also survived by; her twin sister, Cherry Buffett, Bay D'Espoir, Nf. brother Hubert Hillier of Seal Cove, Conception Bay, Nf.; and three generations of nieces and nephews from coast to coast who will always cherish their memories of her. Pearl or "Aunt Pearl' as she was known to most, was a cheerful, vibrant woman who loved the outdoors. After 40 years in Toronto, Pearl and Herb had 10 wonderful years together, enjoying their retirement with their many friends at their cabin at Loon pond and their home in Springdale. Pearl touched everyone's heart in a special way and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rev. Diane Brett-frye conducted the funeral service at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Springdale on Sunday, March 12, 2000. Interment Followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Springdale.

BUDGELL, MALBA
Passed away peacefully on March 20, 2000, Malba Alfrrda Budgell at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale.Mrs Budgell was a member of the Salvation Army, King's Point Corp. Predeceased by her husband Maxwell in 1990. Left to mourn: sons Ivan (wife Pauline) of Gander, Lavern (wife Dixie) of Dildo, Glenndyn (wife Suzanne) of Springdale and Daughter Eileen of King's Point. Also leaving to mourn: brothers - Augustus Burt of King"s Point and Harold Burt of St. John"s; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Her sons Captains Ivan and lavern Budgell conducted he funeral service at the Salvation Army, King's Point on March 22, 2000. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery, King's Point.

MITCHELL, JAMES
It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Mitchell announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on March 26, 2000. He was 90 years old. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Gertrude; sons - Clarence (Nina) of Baie Verte, Rex (Kellie) of Red Deer, AB., Ben (Joanne) of Pembroke, ON.; daughters - Elvie Squires of Willowdale, ON., Valda Andrews of Baie Verte, Edna Young (Kenneth) of Baie Verte, Gloria Mitchell (Terry Bateman) of Dundalk, ON. and Melanie Mitchell (Kimball Stacy) of Scarborough, ON.. Also leaving to mourn: brothers - Peter, Adolphus, Roland and Harry; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Robert Parsons conducted the funeral service at Trinity Pentecostal Church, Baie Verte on Wednesday, March 29, 2000. Interment followed at Trinity Pentecostal Cemetery, Baie Verte.

LUNDRIGAN, THOMAS
Passed away peacefully on March 27, 2000, Thomas Lundrigan at the CNRHC. He was 89. Mr. Lundrigan retired from Canada Post in 1975. Predeceased by his wife Marie. Left to mourn are: sons Calvin (wife Kay) of Baie Verte, Gary (wife Lynn) of Tumbler Ridge, BC; daughters Rose (husband George Tesla) of Surry, BC, Eileen (husband Jim Burden) of Pasadena, Phyllis (husband Danny Keenie) of Richmond, BC and Gladys (husband Ray Mews of Richmond, BC. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Elsie Drover, Gertie Coombs and Liz Shirley; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Payne conducted the funeral service at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Baie Verte on March 30, 2000. Interment was at the St. Pius X Roman Catholic Cemetery.

ENGLAND, LEVINIA
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Levinia England announce her passing at the CNRHC on March 27, 2000. She was 81 years old. She was predeceased by her first husband - Willis Welshman; son - Willis; daughter - Bernice; brother - Harry Saunders; stepbrother Ernest Bowers; and step sister - Martha Hibbs. Left with fond and loving memories are: her husband - George; her sons - Fred Welshman (Maisie), Ernest Welshman (Gertie), Middle Arm, her daughters - Hazel May England, (Donald - stepson), Middle arm, Jeanette Welshman, Kitchener, ON., stepson - Gary England; step daughters - Ivy Austin (Hayward), Middle Arm, Annie Lush (Carl) Burlington, Myrtle Matthews (Alex) Burlington. Also leaving to mourn: stepsister - Charlotte Hibbs; and stepbrother - Philip Bowers; 22 grandchildren; 25 gret-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Wayne Hoyles and Pastor Bill Harnum conducted the funeral sevice at Bayview Pentecostal Church, Middle Arm on Thursday, March 30, 2000. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Middle Arm.

YOUNG, GORDON
Passed away March 30, 2000, suddenly, Gordon Harold Young, at his home in Beachside. He was 80. Mr. Young was a loving husband and father. He retired from the fishery in 1984. Predeceased by his father and mother, son - Albert and sister - Myrtle. Left to mourn are; wife Jacqueline; sons Neil (wife Greta) of Beachside, Scott (wife Elizabeth) of Beachside, Samuel (wife Eileen) of St. John's, Jerry (Pamela) of Terrace Bay, ON., Dennis of Marathon, ON., Randy (wife Susan) of Kitchener, ON., Edward (wife Karen) of Manitouwadge, ON.; daughters Myrtle (husband Ronald Henniffent) of Beachside, Madge (husband Zul Premji) of Markham, ON., Ruby (husband Rex Croucher) of South Brook, NF. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Arlene Oxford of Beachside, Pastor Hazel Snow of Clarke's Beach; brothers Pastor Claude Young of Clarke's Beach, and Calvin Young of London, ON.; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Willie Angell conducted the funeral service at Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, Beachside on April 2, 2000. Interment followed at Beachside Cemetery.
