In re: DAME MARY MACGREGOR DECEASED.
Register of Deeds, etc. Books of Council and Session. At Edinburgh the Thirteenth day of December One thousand nine hundred and nineteen the Deed hereinafter Engrossed was presented for registration in the books of the Lords of the Council and Session for preservation and is registered in the said books as follows: - I, Dame Mary MacGregor, Widow of Sir William MacGregor P.C.G.C.m.G.C.B.A.m., of Chapel on Leander, Earlston, and residing at Chapel on Leander aforesaid, Do hereby legate and bequeath, Assign, and Dispose to my daughter Mary MacGregor, presently residing at Twenty-four Devonshire Terrace, Hyde Park, London W.2., as her own absolute property, whom failing to her issue if any equally amongst them if more than one, All and Sundry the whole Estate heritable and moveable, real and personal of whatever nature of wherever situated which shall belong to me at the time of my death or over which I may have the right of disposal, but declaring that the foresaid bequest is granted subject to the following provisions namely -
(FIRST) payment of all my just and lawful debts, deathbed and funeral expenses and the expenses of the Executry: -
(Second) Delivery to my granddaughter Honor Cecilia Paget of an article of jewellery which article shall be chosen by my said daughter, whom failing by my Executor, unless I shall myself specify the same by writing under my hand however informal and
(THIRD) payment to miss Louisa Smith, Corner Cottage, Grange-Over-Sands, Lancashire, of a legacy of One hundred pounds, Sterling free of legacy duty.
And I appoint my said daughter to be my sole Executrix and failing my said daughter I hereby appoint Donald Gordon Stalker Solicitor Galashiels, to be my sole Executor and Trustee of this Will:
Further in the event of my said daughter having predeceased me without leaving lawful issue I hereby direct my Executor
(FIRST) to make payment of my debts etc.,
(Second) To pay a legacy of One hundred pounds Sterling to the said miss Louisa Smith, as above specified
(THIRD) To deliver to my said granddaughter Honor Cecilla Paget all silver and jewellery of every kinf belonging to me at the time of my death and
(LASTLY) To make over the residue of my Estate to and in favour of my neice mrs. Amy Dennis, widow of Selby Dennis, residing at MacGregor Road, Suva, Fiji, as her own absolute property, whom failing to her issue equally among them if more than one.
And I empower my said Trustee and Executor to sell and realise the whole or any part of my Estate heritable or moveable real or personal. And I also empower my said Trustee and Executor in case any of the Beneficiaries under this Will shall be pupils or minors to pay over the shares of such pupils or minors to their guardians; also to appoint himself or any other suitable person to be Factor and Law Agent in the Trust and to allow such Factor and Law Agent the usual remuneration for his troubles. And I revoke all Wills or other testamentary writings at any time heretofore made by me. And I consent to Registration for preservation
in Witness Whereof I have subscribed these presents written by Archibald Matthew, Clerk to Messieurs Stalker & Thompson, Solicitors, at Chapel on Leader aforesaid on the Twenty-third day of August in the year nineteen hundred and nineteen, before these witnesses

John Ogg, Retired Granite Merchant, residing at number 40 Albergildie Terrace, Aberdeen.
