In re: JOSHUA HENDY DECEASED.
In the name of God Amen. I Joshua Hendy being of sound mind though growing feeble in body do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament, and first I do commend my soul into the hand of Maker, my body I wish to lie in the peaceful churchyard, of my worldly goods & effects I do hereby bequeath as follows; The fishing room flakes stage I wish to remain in the possession of my children as they are at present divided, the dwelling house and all that is in it also the garden below the house I bequeath to my son Charles, the garden over by the school house I leave to my son Robert, the garden by Mrs. Chard’s I leave & bequeath to my son John half the garden upon the Hill I leave to my son Noah & the other half to my son Charles, any other land or garden in my possession they may divide among them with the understanding that house land or other property be used & held by my wife during her lifetime.
To my son Robert I leave 50£ cash to Hannah Sansom I bequeath 50£ to John Hendy I bequeath £50, to Amy Antle I bequeath £50 & in the event of her death twelve months after mine the said money shall be equall divided among the remainder of my children or their heirs and successors to my son Noah I bequeath £50 cash The remainder of my money I bequeath to my wife during her life time for her use, & if any remain after her death it belongs to my son Charles. I do hereby leave and request my son Charles to be my sole executor to carry out the wishes of this my last will and testament. Witness my hand this fourth day of June one thousand eight hundred and seventy three.
