Will of Annie Bowman

In re: ANNIE BOWMAN DECEASED.

In the name of God, Amen. This is the last will and testament of me, Annie Bowman, wife of the Reverend Charles Bowman, of Windsor in the province of Nova Scotia, Doctor of Divinity.

1. First - I order and direct all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and the expense of managing and settling my estate to be first paid out of my estate.

2. Second -I give and bequeath unto my husband the said Charles Bowman, five shares in the Capital Stock of the Avon Marine Insurance Company of Windsor, Limited, also five shares in the Capital Stock of the Shipowners Marine Insurance Company of Windsor, Limited, also a Bond of St. Luke's Parish, Halifax, for five hundred dollars for his own use and behoof forever.

3. Third -I give and devise unto the said Charles Bowman the field belonging to me situate in Falmouth in said County of Hants. To have and to hold the same unto the said Charles Bowman, his heirs and assigns forever.

4. Fourth- I give and bequeath unto the said Charles Bowman, the use during his natural life, of all my plate, pictures, furniture and other chattels, mentioned and contained in a certain inventory or schedule of personal effects may or hereafter to be made and subscribed by the said Charles Bowman and myself and after the death of the said Charles Bowman, the said personal effects are to be distributed and to go to the several parties named in said inventory or schedule according to the terms thereof, and in case I should survive the said Charles Bowman the said personal effects shall be distributed at my death and go to the said several parties named in said inventory or schedule according to the terms thereof unless I shall hereafter make same other disposition of them.

5. Fifth -I give, devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of my estate [except that which is coming to me from or which I am or may be entitled to receive out of the estate of the late Mrs. Elizabeth O'dell] unto my children Frederick Allison, Caroline Mary, Alice Catherine Isabella, Laura Louisa and Florence Amelia share and share alike, their heirs and assigns forever, and in case any of my said children should die before receiving his or her share, leaving issue, such issue shall take the share of their deceased parent but in case any of my said children should die before receiving his or her share without issue him or her surviving then his or her share shall be equally divided among the other of them, the issue of any deceased one taking the share of their parent.

6. Sixth. In loving memory of the wishes and intentions of my dear Mother, I give devise and bequeath all my estate and interest remaining at the time of my death in the estate of my grandmother the late Mrs. Elizabeth O'Dell deceased unto my daughter Alice Bowman for her own use and behoof forever.

7. Seventh. -I hereby nominate constitute and appoint Charles Hensley of Windsor, aforesaid, Bank Accountant, Executor and my daughter Catherine Isabella Bowman Executrix of this my last will and Testament, and I hereby revoke all wills and codicils by me at anytime heretofore made and declare this to be my only and last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto might and seal subscribed and set the thirtieth day of November in the year ninteen hundred. [sgd] Annie Bowman. Sign, sealed, published and declared by the said Annie Bowman, the Testatrix as and for her last will and Testament in the presence of us, who in the presence of each other and of the testatrix and at her request subscribed our names as witnesses [sgd] W. H. Blanchard, [sgd] Frank S. Burgess. Codicil. This is the codicil to the annexed last Will and Testament of me Annie Bowman, wife of Reverend Charles Bowman, of Windsor, in the county of Hants, Province of Nova Scotia, Doctor of Divinity, bearing date the thirtieth day of November in the year ninteen hundred whereas by paragraph seven of my said last will hereto annexed, I nominated, constituted and appointed Charles Hensley of Windsor aforesaid, Bank Accountant. Executor, and my daughter Catherine Isabella Bowman, Executrix thereof.

Now I hereby revoke the appointment of the said Charles Hensley and Catherine Isabella Bowman, as such Executor and Executrix, and I nominate, constitute and appoint Frederick Allison Bowman of Halifax, in the County of Halifax, Electrical Engineer and my daughter Caroline Mary Bowman, Executor and Executrix of my last will and testament hereto annexed in the place and stead of the said Charles Hensley and Catherine Isabella Bowman. In all other respects I confirm my said will hereto annexed. In witness whereof I have set my hand this seventh day of May A.D. ninteen hundred and fifteen [sgd] Annie Bowman. Signed, Published and Declared by the above named Annie Bowman, the Testatrix, as and for her last will and Testament, in the presence of us both present at the same time, who, at her request and in her presence have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses. This is a codicil to the annexed last will and Testament of me Annie Bowman, widow, of the late Reverend Charles Bowman, late of Windsor, and the county of Hants, deceased, bearing date the thirtieth day of November in the year Nineteen hundred whereas by paragraph seven of my said last will hereto annexed I nominated, constituted and appointed Charles Hensley, of Windsor, aforesaid, Bank Accountant, Executor and my daughter Catherine Isabella Bowman, Executrix thereof. And whereas by a codicil dated the seventh day of May nineteen hundred and fifteen to my last will and Testament hereto annexed I revoked the appointment of the said Charles Hensley and Catherine Isabella Bowman as such Executor and Executrix and in their place and stead did appoint Frederick Allison Bowman, of Halifax, Electrical Engineer, and my daughter Caroline Mary Bowman, Executor and Executrix. Now I hereby revoke the appointment of the said Frederick Allison Bowman, and Caroline Mary Bowman, as such Executor and Executrix, and I nominate constitute and appoint the Eastern Trust Company of Halifax, in the county of Halifax, Executor of my last will and Testament hereto annexed, in the place and stead of the said Charles Hensley, Catherine Isabella Bowman, Frederick Allison Bowman, and Caroline Mary Bowman. In all other respects I confirm my said will hereto annexed. In witness whereof I have set my hand this third day of September A.D. nineteen Hundred and seventeen.
