Will of William Stoneman

In re: WILLIAM STONEMAN. DECEASED.

This is the last will and testament of me William Stoneman of Trinity in the Island of Newfoundland, Merchant. I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Catherine Stoneman and to my son George all the lands goods merchandize and property of whatever nature or kind soever and wheresoever situate and of which I shall be possessed or entitled unto at the time of my decease to hold the same upon the following trusts viz. upon trust within one year after my decease to collect in all outstanding debts and to sell dispose of and realize all my estate and effects and out of the proceeds thereof to secure and provide for my children Ebenezer Holmes, William and Tryphine so long as they shall respectively live a sufficient support and maintenance And in the event of my son Frederick’s return to Newfoundland and being in distressed circumstances and requiring the same then to provide him so long as he shall be in such circumstances with like support and maintenance And after having made such provision for the maintenance of my said children then to divide all the rest residue and remainder of my said estate between my said wife and my said son George share and share alike for their own use and benefit.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at St. John’s in the Island aforesaid this fourth day, of August A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty six.

Signed sealed published and declared by the testator William Stoneman as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

Stephen March. M. W. Walbank - I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife and my said son George hereinbefore named to be the executors of this my last will and testament.
