Will of William Cooper of Inglewood Forest, 1885

The last Will and Testament of Mr William Cooper Millowner of Inglewood Forest Trinity Bay Newfoundland.

In the Name of God Amen.

I William Cooper, Millowner of Inglewood Forest, being at present in perfect soundnes of mind appoint this my last Will and Testament.

My soul I commend to Almighty God who gave it and my Property I dispose of in the manner following.

My half of the Mill I bequeath to George Cooper and John Cooper, Sons of Henry Thomas and Cassandra Cooper. The large meadow on the Western side of the Brook I bequeath to George Cooper, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper.

And all the remaining land that I posses (?) in Inglewood Forest I leave to be divided equality between George and John Sons of Henry Thomas Cooper. And it is my will that all my cattle shall be divided between George and John Sons of Henry Thomas Cooper and they are to give a calf to William Rolland Cooper, Son of Henry Thomas and Roxanna Cooper and also a calf to be given to Roxanna Cooper.

My large gun I bequeath to William Rolland Cooper, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper. My red gun nipple wrinch and ball mould I bequeath to George, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper. To John son of Henry Thomas Cooper I bequeath my music box.

My clothes box and arm chair I bequeath to William son of John Cooper. My dwelling house and kitchen garden I bequeath to George Son of Henry Thomas Cooper also it is my Will that my spare bed over the parlour shall remain there until the said George Cooper shall feel disposed to Marry and come in the house to posses (?) it. The other two beds are to be left to my wife Charity Cooper to be disposed of as she will. All my tools are to be left to Henry Thomas Cooper and sons to be used when requested. To Daniel Cooper Son of Absalom I bequeath one soverign. All my remaining household property I leave to my Wife Charity Cooper to be disposed of by her at her will should she outlive me and in case she should it is my will that she shall be supported comfortably off my property as she has been heretofore.

And I do hereby appoint that it is my desire that Hezekiah Benson and Eliab Robbins be my Executors to see this my last Will fulfilled. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this ninth day of March One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty five.

( Note : William Cooper was the son of Henry & Jane Cooper. He was born in Lower Island Cove on August 9, 1810 and Baptised on August 30, 1810. He died on April 7th, 1885.)
