In re Thomas Hiscock deceased. This is the last will & testament of Thomas Hiscock planter of Catalina in the electoral district of Trinity Bay - I hereby devise, give, & bequeath to my wife Helen for her sole use & benefit, during the term of her natural life, provided she remain a widow, all my estate and effects, both real & personal whatsoever & wheresoever and of what nature and quality soever viz My dwelling house, furniture, bedding & contents, personal effects, clothing & whatsoever cash of which I may be possessed at the time of my decease, the strip of land on which my house is built, bounded on the S.W. by the Main Street, on the N.E. by the back street on the S.E. by Robert Hiscocks property & on the N.N.W. by Joseph Hiscock’s land my fishing gear including two cod nets trawls & punt my stage & Flake, Half store on fishing room built on my own land, I give to my aforesaid wife, Helen, liberty to sell the land only during her widowhood & with this proviso that the first offer of purchase is to be made to Adam Haynes of Catalina aforesaid & only in the event of his refusal to purchase, is it be disposed of to another. In the event if my aforesaid wife Helen marrying again my dwelling house, land, & all out buildings including water side premises is to revert to the aforesaid Adam son of my step-brother William Haynes, planter of Catalina provided it is not previously sold either to him or another.
