In the name of God Amen, the fourteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixty six, I, M. Shephard Rowe of Heart’s Content, fisherman of Trinity Bay, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament at the same time revoking all former wills made by me declaring this to be my last will and testament. 1st - I give unto my son Jeremiah Rowe & his mother Chrsteaner (sic) Rowe the land and the house to the street with a straight line bounded is by my brother James Rowe sons fens (fence?) And after my wife Christeanah Rowe deceased the house and land belongs to Jeremiah Rowe forever. 2nd - I give unto
my wife Christeanah Rowe the cow & calf.
3rd - The Back
Land to be divided between the four sons, Eli Rowe and James Rowe and Thomas
Rowe & Martin Rowe each with an equal part.
4th - All the Fishing
Room to be at the disposal for the use of the children.
5th - That the
Room be equal divided & not to be sold or taken for debt but shall
at all times be for children’‘s children.
At the same time I do
appoint Mr. William Legge & Charles Rendell executors of this my last
will and testament to which I have set my hand and seal this fourteenth
day of June in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty six.
