In re Joseph Joy deceased. This is the last will and Testament of the undersigned Joseph Joy Master Mariner of Catalina in the Electoral District of Trinity Bay in the Island of Newfoundland I Joseph Joy being in sound mind but in infirm health - do hereby will devise and bequeath as follows namely:- All that piece or parcel of land situate in Catalina aforesaid with the store or shop thereon erected and bounded on the North east by Edward Guys land and measuring thence by the main road forty-three feet to land occupied by Michael Joy and on the south East by the water of Catalina Harbor; also another piece or parcel of Land with Dwelling House, out-houses and all erections thereon and bounded on the south east by the main road on the north East by Edward Guy’s land and on the south west by land now occupied by Michael Joy:- together with my household furniture and effects and whatever else I may die in possession of to my daughter Alice Humphries, the whole to become hers, and to be for her personal use and benefit without the control of or any interference from her husband or any other person or persons. And I do hereby constitute and appoint John Humphries as the executor of this my last will and Testament and revoking all or any former distribution of my property do declare this to be my last will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at Catalina aforesaid this the fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three Joseph his X mark Joy. Acknowledged by the Testator to be his last will and and Testament and signing by him in our presence and by the witnesses in the presence of the Testator and of each other John Mifflen J.P. Isaac J.
