Will of James Howell

IN RE:   JAMES HOWELL.    DECEASED

In the name of God Amen I James Howell being of sound mind and memory though at present weak and sick in body, Do hereby make my last will and testament, To my Dear wife Mary Howell, I give and bequeath all the money I may have in possession at the time of my decease To be used for her support. And if any remain at her death she is to leave it to three of her children who have been kindest to her.

To my son George I give and bequeath my dwelling house and my desire is that my son, Alexander should be permitted to live in it also, until such time as he can get a house built for himself. The land that his around the house I leave to my two sons George and Alexander to be divided among them according as they wish themselves.

To my son William I leave the garden known as the "Woods" Garden. To my son Edward I leave the Garden down by the Pond in case he should return to Catalina to reside If not then this garden to go to George and Alexander being divided between them

My fishing rooms I give and bequeath to my son George desiring that my sons William and Alexander and Edward may have the use of the store an stage for storage purposes if required but possession thereof to rest in George.

To my Daughter Rebecca I give and bequeath my sewing machine after her mothers death.

To my Dear wife I give and bequeath all my household goods furniture and chattels. To be disposed of as she may see fit.

The store by the house, I leave to George and Alexander to be used jointly by them. And I desire that Alexander build his house just to the East of the Store, said piece of land being hereby given him for the purpose.

To my son George I give my Barometer, and to my son Edward I give my spy Glass. Also the Bed and Bedding in my room I leave to my son Edward to be his after the death of his mother.

And it my wish and desire that the 3 brothers George Alexander and William live together in harmony and help one another. In witness whereof I do hereby declare this to be my last will and Testament and do hereto affix my name in the presence of the witnesses who in my presence and the presence of each other have hereto affixed who in my presence and the presence of each other have hereto affixed their names this 4th day of Decr. 1906 James his x mark Howell Witness A.
