In re: JAMES MURPHY. DECEASED.
This is the last will and testament of me James Murphy of Great Catalina Newfoundland Commercial Agent I appoint John Murphy my brother & John Morris Trustees and executors hereof. I give and bequeath to my son John Murphy all my property at Greenspond whether in houses or land and all the appurtenances belonging thereto.
To my son Thomas I give devise and bequeath my property whether in houses or land & all appurtenances belonging thereto including stores wharves & outbuildings. And of my estate in money now invested in the funds of the Union & Commercial Banks of Newfoundland
I give and bequeath to my wife Alice £1000 cy one thousand pounds currency
To my son John £500 cy five hundred pounds currency
To my son Thomas £500 cy Five hundred pounds currency
To my son James £1500 cy one thousand five hundred pounds currency
To my son Edward £1000 cy one thousand pounds currency
To my daughter Mary £1000 cy one thousand pounds currency
To my daughter Alice £1000 cy
One thousand pounds currency & to Alice & Mary Murphy daughters of my brother John Murphy £300 cy three hundred pounds currency each
To my sister Catherine Humphries £100 cy one hundred pounds currency & to my sister Sarah Martin £100 cy
To John Morris £100 cy one hundred pounds currency
And I bequeath £100 cy one hundred pounds currency to be devoted to the celebration of Masses for the salvation of my soul
