Will of Eliza Butler from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 269-270 probate year 1914

In  re   ELIZA BUTLER      deceased.

    This is the last will and testament of me Eliza Butler of Salmon Cove West, Trinity Bay, in the Island of Newfoundland, widow, I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Laing wife of Obediah Laing, all my property real and personal situate at Salmon Cove West, aforesaid, consisting of house, lands, gardens stable, outhouses, and furniture now in my possession, and of which I shall die possessed absolutely to her own individual use and benefit free and clear of and from the charge, or charges of her said husband; should her aforesaid husband outlive my daughter Elizabeth; he shall not take another wife on the premises.
And I also give devise and bequeath unto my grandson Robert Butler, of Salmon Cove East, Fisherman all that fishing room and plantation situate at Salmon Cove East together with all stages, flakes, stores, houses gardens fields, and uncleared land in connection with the same, and known as “Courtneys plantation” and particularly described in a Bill of Sale from Thomas Courtney to me the said Eliza Butler her heirs and assigns absolutely; to be a home for his mother Johanna Butler, as long as she remains in the name of Butler but should she re-marry she is to lose the claim of the house, as her home, and should Robert’s wife outlive him, never to bring another husband on the place, still to be a home for her as long as she remains the widow of Robert Butler.
That out of any money or monies which I have belonging to me and now in the Bank is to be divided in three equal shares one to be given to my daughter the aforesaid Elizabeth Laing- the second share for my daughter Martha Randell, wife of Joseph Randel; and the third share to be paid to my daughter-in-law Johanna, widow of the late Solomon Butler; and no money to any grand child or great grand children     Hereby revoking and cancelling any former or other will or wills made by me at any time previous to the execution to this my last will and testament-     Dated at Salmon Cove West this 27th day of January A.D. 1911-     Eliza her X mark Butler     Signed by the said testatrix by making her mark in the joint presence of us who thereupon signed our names (the will being first read over to testatrix) (who being blind appeared fully to understand the same) in her presence and each other presence     Joseph Butler     James Moody
As a codicil to the foregoing Will I hereby appoint Joseph Butler of Port Rexton Fisherman executor of this the last will and testament     Dated at Salmon Cove West this 27th day of January 1911     Eliza Butler her X mark.     Witness (having been first read over) Joseph Butler,     James Moody.
