In re
Thomas Hopkins deceased This is the last will and testament of me Thomas Hopkins of Hearts Content in the Island of Newfoundland. First. I devise and bequeath unto my sons William and Alfred Hopkins the house occupied by them with the land and outhouses belonging thereto and the garden up against the church all of which I devise and bequeath to them and their heirs for ever. Second. I devise and bequeath to my son Joseph R. Hopkins and his heirs for ever half of the new house and half that is in it and the stable also half of the cabbage garden. Third. I devise and bequeath to my daughter Jessie Hannah until her marriage or death half of the new house and half that is in it after her death or marriage I devise and bequeath them to my grandson Robert Nelson Hopkins and his heirs for ever. Fourth. I devise and bequeath to my daughter Jessie Hannah the shop the garden called Charlies garden the sewing machine also the monies I loaned my son law S.S. Stentaford and also any other money in my possession. Fifth. I devise and bequeath to my sons William Alfred and Joseph and their heirs for ever all my waterside property including stores stage and flakes also the garden on the Carbonear Road. Sixth. I devise and bequeath to my son William the large looking glass that is in the parlor. Seventh. I devise and bequeath to my son Alfred one small table in the back dining room and two large pictures in the parlor. Eighth. I devise and bequeath to my daughter Martha Asenath one feather pillow. Ninth. I devise and bequeath to my granddaughter Nellie Stentaford one small chair that is in the parlor. Tenth. I devise and bequeath to my grandson Thomas R. Hopkins all my best clothing. Eleventh. I devise and bequeath to my grandson William Rabbitts a silver teapot my daughter Jessie to keep care of it until he is of age. Twelfth. I devise and bequeath to my son William and his heirs for ever half of that garden bought from the estate late Joseph Hopkins. Thirteenth. I devise and bequeath to my son Alfred and his heirs for ever the other half of the garden bought from the estate late Joseph Hopkins. Fourteenth. I devise and bequeath to my grandson Leslie Oldford Hopkins half of the cabbage garden. Fifteenth. I devise and bequeath to my grandson Henry Hopkins my writing desk. Sixteenth. I appoint my sons William and Alfred Hopkins executors to this my Will. Witness my hand at Hearts Content this 26 day of August AD one thousand nine hundred and five.Thomas Hopkins. First in regard to the interest in the new house left to my late son Joseph R. Hopkins and his heirs it is my wish and I hereby direct that neither of the parties interested have power to sell or rent or dispose of their interest in the said house stable etc. mentioned in second clause of my will whilst my daughter Jessie Hannah remains unmarried and I hereby will and devise unto my grandson Robert Nelson Hopkins and his heirs that part of the cabbage garden left unto my late son Joseph R. Hopkins in second clause of my will. Witness my hand at Hearts Content this 29th day of may (?) July ad one thousand nine hundred and six. Thomas Hopkins.
