According to unpublished family and community oral traditions, both the Branton family of Thornlea and the Pike family of Bellevue (Tickle Harbour), are related on a deep time level, presumed to derive historically through the marriage of Pike female to a Branton male sometime during the early to mid-nineteenth century.
