Caplin Bay

CAPLIN BAY - A fishing settlement on the Strait shore south of St. John's district of Ferryland. Nets and seines are used here mostly in the prosecution of the cod fishery, and the inhabitants are also engaged to some extent in salmon fishing and farming. Distant from St. John's by road 42 miles, from Ferryland by road 2 miles. Mail fortnightly. Population 260.
