In re
         John Rose deceased.

This is the last will and testament of me John Rose at present of Pass Island Hermitage Bay Newfoundland Fisherman being now of good bodily health and of sound mind.     I hereby direct that at my decease all my funeral and testamentary expenses and all my just debts be fully paid after which I give and bequeath to my sister Jane Foot relict of James Foot deceased, now of Eastern Cove of Grole in Hermitage Bay Newfoundland the sum of one hundred pounds Newfoundland Currency and in the event of her decease before me the said sum to be equally divided between her surviving children share and share alike.     And all my goods and chattels, all my personal effects of every sort and description, and all other monies in my possession at the time of my decease or that may be due to me or become due to me from any source whatever I give and bequeath to Robert White now of Pass Island Hermitage Bay, Newfoundland, planter, for his sole and absolute use and benefit for ever.     And further in case my sister the said Jane Foot relict of James Foot deceased and her children should not survive me, the amount of One Hundred pounds Newfoundland currency as before mentioned I also give and bequeath unto Robert White aforesaid for his sole and absolute use and benefit for ever.     And I hereby appoint Edward Clench Gallop Esq. of Gaultois, Hermitage Bay, agent, sole executor of this my will.     In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this twenty-ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight.     John his X mark Rose Signed sealed and declared by the testator the said John Rose in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses it having been first read over and explained to him before affixing his mark.     Edwd Gallop (LS)     Leonard Pratt (LS)     John P.
