Oct 23, 1627. Mary, Ye daughter of Mr. John Wayman of Newfoundland, baptized. ( *Mr. rarely is seen, in these records. On Oct 1, 1642, a Mr. John Wayman, Vintner, became a Burgess of Bristol, via his Apprenticeship to William Fitzherbert. )

Oct 18, 1628. John & Robert, ye sons of John Hibbs, brought from Newfoundland; to be baptized.

Oct 20, 1633. Thomas & Mary, ye son & daughter of John Hibbs, of Newfoundland; baptized.

Feb 23, 1633/4. Nicholas, ye son of John Hibbs, baptized.

St. James, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Marriages: Thomas Scranton wed Elizabeth Lewis, on Apr 28, 1627.

St. James Church, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Baptisms:

May 6, 1631. Anne, daughter of Thomas Cranton, baptized.

Oct 11, 1637. Jeoffry & Francis, the sons of Thomas Craunton.

These both being born in Newfoundland, the eldest being born June 3, 1634: the youngest Sept. 28, 1636. Were Baptized the day above said here.

Mid 17th Century trade between Newfoundland and Boston

( William Aspinwall Notarial Records of the Suffolk County Court, Mass. Aug 28, 1649. Thomas Scranton of Isle de Spear, Newfoundland. Includes notes for Tristram Dodge of Ferriland, Newfoundland, 1647. )

Livermore's History of Block Island. ( Including other genealogical information gleaned. Tristram Dodge took up residence and settled at Block Island[New Shoreham, Rhode Island] in 1662. The Freeholders there, had assigned to him and his heirs, forever; 3 Acres of land on the Southeast of the Harbour, in 1661. He came from Newfoundland to teach the art of fishing, to the inhabitants. His son, Tristram Dodge; died Aug 18, 1733, at New Shoreham, aged eighty-seven. Born circa 1646. )

Milton Abbas Parish Church, Dorset, Baptisms:

Sheppard Eodem die[The same day][May 18, 1699], was Baptized, Tabitha Sheppard, daughter of Francis Sheppard & Mary his wife, born in Newfoundland.

Poole Parish Church, Dorset, Baptisms:

Catherine, daughter of William Knight, born at Newfoundland, December 24, 1719; was baptized on June 10, 1722. ( William Knight of Bonavista. )

Baptized on Feb 14, 1745: Amey Thompson, the daughter of Nicholas Pain, & Eliz. his Wife, born in Newfoundland, March 24, 1735. Nicholas Edwards, the Son of Nicholas Pain, & Eliz. his Wife, born in Newfoundland, April 2, 1738. Alice, the daughter of John Case, and Alice his wife, born in Newfoundland, December 6th 1743. ( Grand-daughter of Nicholas Pain. )

( Nicholas Pain/Payne wed Elizabeth Wills, on Jan 5, 1722, at Poole Parish, Dorset. Nicholas Payne and Robert Durell, operated Poole - Fogo Island. In the vessel "George", during the 1750's/1760's. Captain Edward Wills, in the "Desire"; Captain Thomas Hart in the "Atkins"; & Captain Henry Brenton, in the "Robert & Sarah", for Lawrence Smith; late 1730's, including the Hooper family, would have been Fogo Island contemporaries. Thomas Tizzard being the major "Planter" at Twillingate, Captains William Ford, and Thomas Loader, later sailed his vessels, Poole - Twillingate. Poole merchants supplied such vessels and Planters. Apart from their own Adventuring vessels into early Notre Dame Bay, on the "North West Coast" of Newfoundland, as it was referred to in England, during the era. )

Thomas, son of Joseph Sharpe from Newfound Land, of England. Old when baptized.

( Thomas Davis born in 1754, baptised at Christchurch on Jan 13, 1764. His father, John Davis, was a Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, Planter. Also, his grandfather, Thomas Davis, Planter. ) ( John Sharp wed Anna Hancock on Nov 23, 1696, at Christchurch. Joseph Sharpe baptised on Sep 24, 1710, at Christchurch. Son of John Sharpe.
