Will of Mary Morris
In re

Mary Morris deceased.

In the name of God Amen. I Mary Morris of Great Placentia Newfoundland do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills at any time heretofore made by me- I give devise and bequeath to the resident Roman Catholic Priest of Great Placentia at the time of my death and to the succeeding resident Roman Catholic priests of same place my dwelling house and three gardens situate in Great Placentia and bounded as follows- the house and one garden bounded on the east by Mrs. Bradshaw’s house and premises and on north south and west by the public road- the second garden being bounded on the north by the public road on the south by the lane coming from the “Slip and by Burk’s garden- on the east by Burkes garden and west by public road- the third garden bounded on the north by the “Square” on the south by Mrs. Baldwin garden on the west by David Sinnott’s garden on the east by the public road and I direct that in consideration thereof that one Mass be offered up every month for the period of fifty years by said resident priest and his successors for me, Thomas Morris, Anne Morris, Mrs. Mary Morris, James Morris and Rose McGill conjointly

I give devise and bequeath to the resident Roman Catholic priest of Great Placentia at the time of my death and to the succeeding resident Roman Catholic priests of same place six drawing room chairs one center drawing room table, two beds and bedding, the cooking stove in kitchen and stove in drawing room- I give devise and bequeath to the Reverend Charles Irvine the younger of the two cows belonging now to me I give devise and bequeath to the Superiores of the Presentation Convent Great Placentia at the time of my death for the use and benefit of said Convent the house now occupied by Richard Walsh and the house occupied by Mary Chant both houses situated in great Placentia with two meadows bounded one by T. Reilly’s house and Andrew Grant’s or his mother’s house the other meadow at the rere of Richard Walsh’s house- and I appoint the Reverend John Ryan and the Revd C. Irvine my executors of this my last will and testament- In witness whereof I have hereto put my hand this thirtieth day of June one thousand eight hundred and seventy three.
