In re
Michael Ryan deceased In the name of God Amen. I Michael Ryan of Tassa D'Argent in Placentia Bay Newfoundland Boatkeeper being of sound mind memory and understanding but calling to mind the mortality of my body and duly considering the uncertainty of human life, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Principally and first of all I give and commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I commend to the earth to be interred in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executrix, hoping that at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate and effects as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this world. I give bequeath and dispose of as follows.- that is to say, I give and bequeath to Elenor Ryan, my dearly beloved wife all and singular the whole of the property, real and personal, of which I may die possessed after the payment of my just debts to be held and enjoyed by her without any limitation or restriction whatever.- committing to her tender and maternal care our dearly beloved children to be brought up in principles of industry and Christian morality, hoping they will prove worthy of her care and become respectable members of society. And I do hereby constitute and appoint her the said Elenor Ryan sole Executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disannulling any former testaments wills legacies or bequests by me in any way before made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at Oderin Newfoundland the twenty ninth day of October one thousand eight hundred and eighteen.
