 Will of William Phoran of Little Placentia

 
 The Last Will and Testament of William Phoran from the Estate Files Probate year 1899

In the name of God amen This is the last will and testament of me William Phoran of Little Placentia in the island of Newfoundland, merchant.  First I direct that all my just debts be paid as soon as convenient after my decease.  I appoint Albert Bradshaw Esq of Placentia and the Rev’d E. P. Roach of Kelligrews executors of this my last will and Testament.  I give devise and bequeath to the new church of Little Placentia the sum of Five hundred Dollars, to Bishop Howley for Mount Cashel the sum of one hundred dollars, to Bishop Howley as a personal gift one hundred dollars, to the Revd Father Reardon of Placentia the sum of Twenty Five Dollars, to Fathers Shehan, Walker (?) and Roach (of Kelligrews) the sum of Fifty dollars each, to the Revd J. J. St. John the sum of one hundred Dollars, to my housekeeper Ellen Fitzpatrick the sum of Two Hundred Dollars to my nephew Francis Phoran the sum of two Hundred Dollars to Jno Meade of (Jno) and Jas Meade (of Jno) the sum of Fifty Dollars each.  I  will devise and bequeath the sum of One thousand Dollars to be expended by Revd D O’ Reilly and Revd E.P. Roach for the celebrating of one thousand masses, for the repose of the souls of myself, wife and children.  The balance of my money I will, devise and bequeath to my grandchildren the sons and daughters of Thomas O’Reilly and Sarah – his wife – my daughter.  I will devise and bequeath to my grandson   ??m F. O’Reilly all my property , house, stores wharf lands, goods and challels? in Sandy Cove, and at Pond  ??? Little Placentia on condition that he shall have celebrated twelve masses each year for twenty years for the Repose of my soul.  I hereby revoke all wills by me at any time heretofore made.
 In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this Fourth day of August Anno Domini one thousand Eight Hundred and ninety nine.
