Some very brief Boyd info here. Relating diverse geography, but I believe most, if not all, is pertinent to Twillingate. This in an effort to prop up understanding of Twillingate’s early history. Obviously, much detail is missing? More research is required.

* Does the entry here directly pertain to Twillingate?
Lymington area Parish Records
Matthew Hatcher wed Catherine Whitehorn on Sep 22, 1703 at Boldre, Hampshire.
Daughter Charity Hatcher born April 12, 1713.
Sep 22, 1744, William Boyd wed Charity Hatcher.

*What church congregation at local Lymington area, were Boyds specifically associated with?
What was the exact resident location of family Boyd at Twillingate Northside? (of Church of England persuasion? )

*Does a link exists between Twillingate Boyd and Anstey family, stemming from marriages like Edward Linthorne of Poole, Dorset to Elizabeth Courtney, 1728, Poole Parish. At Lymington we have Thomas Courtney wed to Elizabeth Boyd by License on April 2, 1735. Charles Anstey earlier wed Ann Linthorne at Poole.

*Moses Cheator/Chaytor Captained Slade's "Juno" 1764/5 Poole - Fogo/Twillingate. A 50 Ton Vessel. 5 man crew. Vessel built at Poole in 1758. **Apparently he still captained in 1787?

*1764/5 - Richard Barnes Captained the "Triton" for Slade. (**a Richard Barnes at Trinity, NL and another? surfacing at Morden, Dorset.) **Surname Barnes intermarried Slade family at Poole. Surname Barnes at Twillingate.

*PRO - Poole, Dorset, England, Settlement Examination for William Boyd and family.

*William Bide of Lymington, County of Hampshire at Twillingate, NF. He had a son William born at Twillingate abt 1754. The son William returned to Poole about Nov 27, 1787 with wife Mary and children: Joseph abt age 13 yrs, Mary age 9 yrs, James age 7 yrs and Elizabeth.
**Father William Boyd at Twillingate for several years previous to this record taking. Witness: Moses Cheater.
Slade Captain, Moses Cheator being questioned under the auspices of the settlement examiners at Poole, tends toward a likely Alantic passage under Cheator’s command. Was it Slade's vessel "Juno"?

*Province of Canterbury Wills - John Slade, Poole Merchant. Will dated Jan 7, 1792.
- to servant Thomas Boyte 10 Lbs to put him in mourning ( 10 Lbs in 1792 = what value in 2007? Multiply 60 or 80 times? )

*James Boyt a Poole, Dorset, Juror, 1828.
June 2, 1855 - Will of James Boyt, Baker of Town of Poole , Dorset

*Ann Boyd resided at Poole, 1841 Census.

*Churchwardens Accounts, St. James Church, Poole, England

1763 entry - Occupier of Charles Anstey's Tenement - now Boyd. Boyd paid Church dues based on the value of the tenement?
1764 - Occupier of a Tenement - Now Boyd's
1766 - Now Hough’s ( Ie: John and Elizabeth Hough of Hamworthy, Dorset, a Poole suburb. ) Elizabeth Hough willed the Poole, Dorset, Hiley's Orchard tenement to John's nephew Thomas Hough, son of William Hough. John's brother Henry Hough had a daughter Sarah Spratt. Consider Merchant Samuel Spratt of southern Newfoundland.

*- per St. John's church recs:
Thomas Hughes & Margaret Boyd had William born Jan 28, 1848 at Presbyterian Church, St. John's. Daughter Isabella, Apr 28, 1846. Also later children Mary Ann Eliza, Sarah Jane & Samuel. *Robin's Cove, Twillingate.
Charles Anstey Senior at Poole, Dorset leased a Strand Street house from William Robbins for 99 years. Later a John Robins residing with Charles Anstey at Poole.
A John Robbins died Oct 6, 1897 at Pilley's Island, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland, aged 43 years. Born at Catalina. His wife Elizabeth Pride, dau of Thomas & Mary Pride of Twillingate. *Anstey - Pride relations otherwise noted.
( Expect many Poole - Bonavista - Twillingate relationships )

*Dinah and Rachael Boyd, sisters? from Tizzards Harbour, Dinah Boyd was second wife of James Anstey. Rachael Boyd wed Francis Powell. James Anstey was born circa 1799.

Dinah Anstey's last known (to my knowledge) child was Selina Anstey born Aug 20, 1851. Dinah Anstey died at Purcell's Harbour on Oct 19, 1873, aged 61 years. Thus Dinah born circa 1812 at Twillingate or Tizzard's Harbour.
Who was James Anstey’s first wife, at Purcell’s Harbour?

*Boyd fron Scotland?? I have no info re: Scotland and family Boyd and Twillingate. But could there be a link? One John Boyd and John Black, employed by Baine, Johnson & Co. at St. Johns, was it abt 1818?

*- per the Supreme Court Deeds Office, St. John's, NL. Vol 6, pg 173. John Boyd & others from James Macbraire. Macbrior surname later noticed further north in Newfoundland.
- Vol 11, pg 189. Bill of sale from John Boyd to John Purcell. Purcell = Irish?? Purcell's Harbour?? Consider Dorset surnames Pearce & Pearcy/Pearcey/Purcey, re: Purcell's Harbour, Twillingate.

*William Boyd born April 11, 1742 at Haselbury Bryan. Check Haselbury Bryan - Twillingate links!
What about Boyd's Island or Boys/Boise Island on the south coast of Newfoundland?
