In the name of God Amen. The Twenty fifth of April one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. I Patrick Ryley formerly of Ireland County Tipperary now of Newfoundland, Tilton Harbour, being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed once to all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

First after my expenses being paid and ten pounds being paid to His Lordship the Bishop of Newfoundland I bequeath the remainder of my money now in Bank in Saint John’s to my brothers and sisters to be equally divided between each I liquise authorise my executors to see that all my wishes at this moment shall be performed by them.
