Will of John R. Edney

In re: JOHN R. EDNEY. DECEASED.

This is the last Will and Testament of me John R. Edney Fisherman of Starve Hr. Herring neck District of Twillingate in the Dominion of newfoundland.

FIRST. I give devise and bequeath to my nephew William Edney now residing at St. John's n.F. my Bedding Bedstead, Furniture, and all fitting in my Bedroom.

SECOND. I give devise and bequeath to my neice Jane Rice my Dwelling House furniture and all fittings (except the above named articles bequeathed to my nephew William Edney aforesaid) also my Fishing room consisting of Stage Flake Store and any fishing gear I may have situated at Starve Hr aforesaid. All my gardens I now own situated on Ship Island Herring neck.

THIRDLY. I further direct and wish the following legacies and bequeaths shall be paid out of the monies that I have deposited in the Bank of nova Scotia at Twillingate newfoundland Vize: - To St marys Church and the Parish of Herring neck the sum of One hundred dollars to be used for the benefit of the said Church as the Clergyman and Church Wardens may in their discretion see fit. To my nephew William Edney aforesaid what money I have left at the Bank of nova Scotia Twillingate aforesaid (after the One hundred dollars is paid St. mary's Church aforementioned)

FOURTHLY. I further wish and direct that my Funeral and Testamentary expenses the cost of a suitable Headstone (to be placed over my grave) shall be paid out of the monies I have now in my house. Whatever money there is left in my house after the above mentioned expenses are paid I give devise and bequeath to my neice Jane Rice.

I appoint Thomas Hussey and Dorman Rice to be my executors. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this Sixth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand nine hundred and Twenty. John R. his X mark Edney Signed by the said John R. Edney the Testator by affixing his mark thereto after being read over to the said Testator and explained, who in our presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses Frank S. Lockyer J.H. Marks.
