Will of John Aylward, Senior

IN RE:   JOHN AYLWARD.    DECEASED

St. John's Newfoundland April 30th 1910

Be it known to all men that I the undersigned John Aylward Planter of Little Fogo Islands in Newfoundland being of sound and disposing mind though weak in bodily health do hereby make this as my last will and testament to wit: I desire that my property consisting of Dwelling house ground boats nets etc at Little Fogo Island be realized and the proceeds be handed over to my executor under mentioned for the purposes of the trusts herein mentioned

2nd I bequeath to my two sisters Mrs Kate or Katherine Howe now living, and a widow in Globe Arizona and Ellen Aylward Spinster now in S. Boston the sum of five hundred dollars each.

3rd I leave for masses for the repose of my soul twenty-five dollars.

4th I bequeath to the male & female orphanages of Mount Cashel and Belvedere one hundred dollars each. All the rest and residue of my property I leave in trust for religious and charitable purposes as he may deem fit to Archbishop Howley whom I appoint my sole Executor - John Aylward - E. P. Roche J.J. McGrath witnesses

Newfoundland Northern District Fogo to wit I John Aylward senior of Little Fogo Island in the northern District of Newfoundland being ill of body but sound of mind and memory do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament regarding my property situated at Wadhams Harbor Little Fogo Island.

In the first place I do bequeath & give unto my two sisters viz Catherine Howe in Bisbay Arizona and Ellen Aylward in South Boston all the property & household effects consisting of dwelling house, stores stage water - side & land adjoining as well as all the fishing property consisting of Cod-trap caplin - seine cod nets & seal nets and all other fishing property and I do hereby appoint Mr Ambrose Fitzgerald of Fogo as the executor of this my will giving him full power after my death to sell by public auction or private sale the above mentioned property & after deducting any expenses incurred by him in the procedure to remit balance to my said two sisters;

In the second place I do bequeath & give unto Mr Francis Keeffe of Tilting all my wearing apparel.

In the third place I do hereby appoint my executor to take charge of all effects now in the house of Mr Michael Maddock after my death As witness my hand and seal at Fogo this twenty sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred & eleven - John His x mark Aylward - witnesses E. O. Brien A. J. Fitzgerald Michael E. Maddocks.

Signed sealed acknowledged, published and declared by the said Testator to be his last will and testament regarding his property situate at Little Fogo after having been first read over and being fully understood in the presence of the above witnesses. Dated at Fogo February 26th 1911
