In the name of God Amen.     I, James Moores of Back Harbour Twillingate in the Island of Newfoundland being of perfect mind & memory do make this my last will & testament.     I give the whole of the amount of money which I may possess at the time of my decease to my wife Elizabeth Moores to be enjoyed by her during her life, and at her decease to be disposed of as she might direct.     James Moores- Signed & sealed on this the 31st day of July 1861, in the presence of Thomas Harris witness.     This is to certify that I James Moores of Back Harbour, Twillingate, Newfoundland, being weak in body but of a sound mind, do give unto my sons Edmund & Isaac, half of my fishing room on “Batrick’s Island” with the garden attached thereto with the understanding that it is never to be sold out of the family.
