In re: JAMES WELLS. DECEASED.

In the name of God Amen I James Wells Planter at Exploits Burnt Island Newfoundland being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory calling to mind it is appointed unto all men once to die, I do make this my last will and testament and first I give my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in a Christian manner at the discresion of my executors, and as touching my worldly goods that God has been pleased to bless me with, I do make my two sons George and Alexander Wells my sole heirs administrators and executors of all my property consisting of plantation all houses stage flakes lands and garden now in my possession with my vessel and all her tackle all to be fully possessed and enjoyed by the said George and Alexander Wells as there property

Also I give to my daughter Phebe Wells twenty shillings and a place in the dwelling house as long as she be pleased to dwell there and her maintaince from her two brothers also I do give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Pearce twenty shillings and room to erect an house on my premises adjoining James Winsor Room, also to my daughter Elizabeth Manuel widow I do give and bequeath the sum of twenty shillings with full liberty to have a birth for her sons to the Labrador in my vessel, also to my daughter Char lotte Tuff I give and bequeath twenty shillings with liberty of birth to the Labrador as above

Also to my son Henry I do give and bequeath to my son Henry twenty shillings with liberty of birth to the Labrador All this to be at the discresion of my said executors, Also to my daughter Caroline Seiviour I give and bequeath the sum of twenty shillings to be paid out of such money as shall be found after my decease at the discresion of my executors, And I do hereby ratify and confirm this to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have hereupon set my hand and seal this thirty first day of De cember One thousand eight hundred and sixty four.
