Will of James Noble

In re: JAMES NOBLE. DECEASED

Know all men by these Presents: that I James Noble, of Nippers Harbor in the District of Twillingate, in the Island of Newfoundland fisherman, being in good health, and of sound and disposing mind, and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament. I give, devise, and bequeath, to my sons William Thos. Noble, Arthur Noble Elijah Noble, and Albert Noble, all my Salmon Nets, rope, and general fishing gear now exclusively belonging to me. or shall belong to me at my decease, also all tools and cash in my work shop, with the said workshop and also the potato garden situated adjacent; and in front of my dwelling house to have and to hold the same, all and several, their heirs, and assigns, for their use and benefit for ever. I further give, devise, and bequeath to my sons William Thos Noble, Arthur Noble Elijah Noble, and Albert Noble, aforesaid, all my interest in the Schooner Rene jointly held with them, and my interest in the caplin seine, also jointly owned with them, to have and to hold the same for thier use and benefit thier heirs and assigns for ever;

I give, devise, and bequeath to my sons William Thos Noble, Arthur Noble, Elijah Noble, Albert Noble, and Leander James Noble, all my interest in the Codtrap and fishing stage now jointly owned with them, and my Net house and Salt-house, to have and to hold for thier use and benefit, thier heirs and assigns for ever.

I give, devise, and bequeath to my son Elijah Noble, my dwelling house and land on which it stands, with small store house adjacent and cabbage garden and all land of mine surrounding or adjacent of my said dwelling house excepting the potato garden already willed here in by me and excepting small portion of cabbage garden now occupied by my son Albert Noble, which portion he the said Albert is to hold for his use and benefit - to have and to hold the same all and several to his the said Elijah Noble’s use and benefit, his heirs and assigns for ever.

I give devise and bequeath to my son Leander James Noble, the remainder of the garden at Walsh’s Cove now partly by him occupied and given him by me to have and to hold the same and all of it for his use and benefit his heirs and assigns for ever I give and bequeath to my children William Thos. Noble, Arthur Noble, Elijah Noble, Albert Noble, Leander James Noble, Elizabeth Ann Goudie, Hannah Batstone, Louisa Jane Noble Eunice Batstone, Mary Milley, Lucy Baker and Susan Noble, an equal share of all money in the bank, in my house, or Elsewhere left by me at time of my decease, my executor having first paid all my just debts and funeral expenses

Lastly I nominate and appoint my son William Thomas Noble to be my executor of this my last will and testament In testimony whereof I the said James Noble do set herewith my mark and seal this fifteenth day of March one thousand nine hundred and one A.D. James Noble his X mark (LS) Signed, Sealed published and declared by the said James Noble as his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request, and in the presence of each other, have, subscribed our names as witnesses thereto day and year above written Benj.
