Last will and testament of James Late of Lewisport, in the electoral District of Twillingate, Newfoundland.
    1. I, James Late, do give devise and bequeath my entire property to my wife Elizabeth Ann Late who is to have sole ownership thereof during her lifetime, and upon her demise my property is to be allocated as follows:-
    2. I do give and devise the block of land as per my Grant from Government in five equal parts, between each of my five sons- John, Albert, Alfred, Arthur and George- John’s part to be situate on the portion on whish his house now stands- Albert to take the portion adjoining thereto running south west Alfred’s portion north of John’s- Arthur’s block running north west and situate on the other side of the railway track- George taking the block on which my house now stands and situate between that of John and Albert.
    3. I do further give and devise the house in which I now reside, with all furniture and effects to my son George.
    4. Further I do give and devise the fish store and the stable situate on my land, to my five sons, each to have an equal ownership in the same.
    5. I give and devise all fishing gear, that is to say nets, boats &c. to my two sons- Albert and George each to share equally the possession of same.
    6. I do give my gun to George.
    7. It is to be understood as touching my daughter Julia, that as long as she needs same- that is until her marriage- she is to have a home with her brother George and to have equal rights with him.
    8. I do bequeath my horse to my three sons Albert, John, and George, each to have equal interest in same.     I appoint Parmensa Manuel and George Brown, joint and sole executors of this my last will and testament.     James Late     X     his mark     Lewisport January 4th 1905     Witnesses J.
