Will of James Hancock

In re: JAMES HANCOCK. DECEASED

The last will and testament of James Hancock of Botwoodville. (two spellings in transcript)

I James Handcock do give, devise and bequeath to my wife Martha Handcock my house furniture and all my personal effects together with one third of the land owned by me for her sole use during her natural life. I further devise that at the death of my wife Martha Handcock this my bequest shall pass to my grandson Archibald Handcock his heirs and successors for ever I give devise and bequeath to my sons Joseph Handcock and Henry Handcock, the remaining two thirds of my estate, to be divided equally between them at my death for the benefit of them, their heirs and successors for ever

Signed this second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine (sgd) James his mark X Handcock. Witnesses This will was read and assented to in our presence Augustus G. Bayly ??ist J.T. Bendle Harry Burt 2 August 1899
