Will of Henry Hawkins
In re the estate of

Henry Hawkins deceased

I Henry Hawkins of Twillingate in the northern district of the Island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind and memory, do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in the manner and form following: That is to say:

First, I give devise and bequeath to my wife Alice Hawkins, my dwelling-house with all its contents, situated between Jenkins and Harts Coves South Island, Twillingate, for her sole use and benefit until her death, when it becomes the property of my son Hedley Hawkins.

Second I give and devise unto my said wife Alice Hawkins the stable, situate at the above named place which at her death is to be equally used by my sons Stephen and Hedley Hawkins.

Third. I give and devise unto my said wife the meadow situated at the above mentioned placed and bounded as follows: - east by public road, west by Elis and Abel Burtons property, south by high water mark; but at her decease it is to be equally divided between my two sons Stephen and Hedley Hawkins, Stephen to have the western part Hedley the eastern part.

Fourth I give and bequeath to my said wife Alice Hawkins all the money in my possession at my death with exception of ten pounds sterling which I bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth wife of William Bourden

Fifth I give and devise unto my sons Stephen and Hedley Hawkins my store and stage for their sole use and benefit to be equally divided between them.

Lastly; I hereby appoint and constitute Robert Linfield and Josiah Hawkins as my executors of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine

Signed and declared by the said Henry Hawkins testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us, who in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses.

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me Henry Hawkins which bears the date of seventeenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine.

I give and devise unto my said son Stephen Hawkins mentioned in my will the piece or parcel of land known as the “Rusty Square” for his sole use and benefit.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine.
