Will of Gilbert Ridout

In re: GILBERT RIDOUT DECEASED.

This is the last will and testament of me Gilbert Ridout of Rouges Harbor in the Northern District of Newfoundland, Planter. I give, devise and bequeath to my sons Samuel Ridout and Job Ridout, my fishing room and premises situate and being in Rouges Harbor aforesaid, being one half of the fishing room and premises of my late father Joseph Ridout Senior together with my codtrap, nets, skiffs and punts. I give and bequeath to my son Job Ridout my dwelling house with all and every article therein contained. Also my silver watch and chain. Further should there by any monies standing in my name in the books of the Union Bank of Saint John’s at the time of my decease, my desire is that my wife shall have full control over the same during her lifetime and after her decease my desire is that such monies as may be then on the said books under her possession, shall be equally divided between my four daughters and two sons namely Phoebe Giles, Rhoda Noble, Lavinia Sherwin(?), Isabella Giles, Samuel Ridout and Job Ridout, and I appoint my two sons Samuel Ridout and Job Ridout executors to this my will and revoke all previous wills by me at any time heretofore made.

In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this nineteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and ninety five.

Gilbert his X mark Ridout.

Signed by the said Gilbert Ridout the testator by making his mark in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses.
