In re ELLEN LAYMAN. DECEASED.
Late of Fogo Spinster deceased.
Newfoundland Northern District Fogo to wit
In the name of God Amen I Ellen Layman single woman of Fogo in the northern district of Newfoundland being through the Goodness of Almighty God of sound mind and memory but being aware of the uncertainty of human life do make publish and declare this my last will and Testament cancelling and revoking any other will or Testament hitherto made by me. viz: -
First I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be buried after a decent Christian manner in the Roman Catholic Cemetery Fogo with a suitable Head Stone to my grave to be erected by my executor.
Second with respect to my worldly estate I give bequeath and dispose of it in the following manner viz
Third I give and bequeath to my beloved Aunt Johanna Pickett all moneys standing to my credit in the Saint John's Newfoundland Savings Bank as well as all other money I now hold in my possession at the time of my death for her sole use and benefit while she remains alive.
Fourth after her death the said balance of any money due in my name to belong to my brother Richard Layman for his sole use & benefit.
I do also constitute and appoint my brother Richard Layman of Fogo to be the executor of this my last will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of January one thousand nine hundred and four. Ellen Layman (LS) signed sealed acknowledge Published and declared by the Testatrix to be her last will and Testament after having been first read over and being fully understood in the presence of Ambrose J. Fitzgerald (LS) & M.E. Fitzgerald (LS)
