In re
Edward Redman deceased This is the last will and testament of me Edward Redman of Harry's Harbor in the Island of Newfoundland fish curer and exporter. I hereby revoke all testamentary writings heretobefore executed by me and declare this to be my last will and testament made and executed at St. John's on the 17th day of August A.D. 1915. I appoint Frank Carnell of St. John's accountant and my brother Leonard Redman Executors of this my will. I bequeath the whole of my estate real and personal and of whatever nature and kind to my said executors for subject to the following bequests trusts and purposes that is to say: I desire that my wife Elfrida Blanche Redman shall occupy the dwelling house and land pertaining thereto situate at Harry's Harbor the property of the partnership firm of the Redman Packing Company or the rents and profits accruing therefrom until such time as my interest as partner in the said firm shall have been fully realized. I desire that my said wife shall also have the possession and use of such household goods furniture and other effects as may be in my possession at the time of my death for and during her life. I direct that upon the death of my wife the said household goods furniture and other effects shall be and become the property of my oldest son Malcolm Geddin Redman. I desire and direct that as soon as possible after my death my Executors shall realize and collect all monies due and payable to me by the said firm of the Redman Packing Company for salary bonuses and profits at the time of my death. I direct that upon my death or at the end of the fiscal year during which my death shall occur my executors shall collect from the said partnership my interest and share as partner therein. If the said partnership shall desire it my said interest therein shall be paid in three annual installments of equal amounts at the end of each consecutive year after my death provided that a guarantee satisfactory to my executors is given them that the whole amount due to my estate shall be paid by the said partnership with proportionate net profits thereon during the years that the said interest or any portion thereof shall be unpaid by the said partnership to my executors. I direct that my executors shall collect from the said partnership the amount of the value of my interest in and all moneys due and payable to my estate under a policy for five thousand dollars [$5000.00] in the Confederation Life Association. I direct that from the moneys collected by my executors as aforesaid they shall pay all debts due by me at the time of my death and all funeral and testamentary expenses and that they shall invest the balance in such manner as shall be most advantageous having regard to the further provisions of this my will. I desire and direct that from the date of my death there shall be allowed and paid to my wife for her support the sum of twenty dollars [$20.00] per month and for the support of each of such children of mine as may survive me the further sum of eight dollars and thirty three cents [$8.33] per month. For that purpose it shall be competent for my executors to draw upon the capital or principal as well as interest or income of my estate. I direct that my executors shall have power to increase the allowances for the support of my children if in their opinion it is necessary so to do for their proper education and improvement I direct that my executors shall have power in the event of any unforeseen contingencies to make such further advances as they may deem to be necessary and proper to meet the said contingencies. The amount hereinbefore directed to be allowed and paid to my wife for her support shall be continued so long only as she shall continue my widow and from the date of her marriage again no further amount shall be paid to her for her support. In the event of the death or remarriage of my wife at any time before the whole of my estate shall be exhausted or disposed of as above provided I desire and direct that all money property and estate at the time of her death or remarriage remaining [excluding the furniture and effects] shall go and be divided equally among my children the share of any that may have died before her death or remarriage going to the legal representatives of such deceased child. I direct that in the event of the care of my children being left to any person other than my wife my executors shall pay to the said person the monthly allowance hereinbefore named for the support of my said children or either of them.
