Joseph Elliott deceased I Joseph Elliott of Sleepy Cove, Twillingate, in the Northern District of the Island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind and memory, do make my last will and testament in manner and form following: First I give devise and bequeath unto Nathaniel Chipman my gun, one herring net, one cod-net, also fifty dollars in cash [$50.00]. Second I give and devise to my daughter Jessie Mills, [wife of John Mills] my dwelling house, furniture and all other household effects, also, my fishing premises and fishing property, together with all my cattle and live-stock of which I may die possessed. But my wife Martha Elliott is to live peaceably in my dwelling house as long as she remains my widow. Also Nathaniel Chipman so long as he remains unmarried. Third. I give and bequeath unto my said wife Martha Elliott the remainder of my money, deposited in the Bank of Nova Scotia, or elsewhere of which I may die possessed. In the event of the death of my said wife any money (??????)ed by her shall become the property of my said daughter Jessie Mills, and should my wife predecease me then all monies herein bequeathed to my said wife shall become the property of my daughter Jessie Mills. Fourth. All the rest residue and remainder I give devise and bequeath unto my said daughter Jessie Mills. Lastly. I hereby appoint and constitute Charles White Notary Public to be Executor of this my last will and testament.
