The Provincial Archives Division of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is responsible for
"Acquiring, preserving, organizing and making available records from both government and non-government sources. Developing a genealogical resource for the enhancement of the province's tourism potential. Creating an outreach unit to support the development of a consciousness of Newfoundland and Labrador's heritage including support for the development of heritage exhibits."
