John Kirby, aged 64 years, of Kirby's Cove committed suicide in his store.

Thomas Carter of Francois drowned when his dory upset while returning from fishing.

Carlson, 7 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Cluett of Frenchman's Cove, drowned by falling through ice.

Two brothers named George and Allan Tulk of Carmanville drowned by falling through the ice on Gull pond.

William Vokey of Little Harbor, returning from his home to Pope's Hr., for log purposes found body of man frozen on the ice and half resting on load of wood, two other bodies afterwards recovered , they were, Mr. John Verge, his wife and adopted son of Trinity.  Apparently the two went through the ice.

William Budgell of Bishop's Falls who recently entered General Hospital suffering from badly burned legs as result of being in an accident at Round house, passed away.

Leslie Pond employee of the International Power & paper Co., at Corner Brook accidentally killed while working at the mill.

Double drowning at Winterton when George Gregory and his little grandson, aged 8 years, went through ice in pond while on act of getting firewood.

Body of D. M. Baird, found by police floating on waters of harbor at 1.15 p.m.
John Fitzgerald of St. Ann's drowned while returning home in dory.

George English, aged 25 years, of Branch, accidentally drowned while bird hunting.

George Hammond , aged 44, resident of Sulva St. dropped dead in Freshwater Valley when bringing home a load of fire wood..

Two and half year old son of Theodore Norman, of Pound Cove, near Wesleyville, drowned when he fell into well.
50 persons lost their lives when a theatre at Ahualuco, Mexico, was gutted by fire.

Young man named Clarke of Heart's Desire, drowned while bird hunting.

James Whiteway, member of crew of schooner Pauline Winters, lost his life on the Grand Banks.

Clarence Kelligrew of 15 Balsam St., St. John's asphyxiated in a Brooklyn lodging house.

Disaster overtakes American airship Akron, 79 dead.

Body of William Barnes, aged 30 years, and married of Coomb's Cove found by search party.  Deceased victim of epileptic fits.

George Carter,55, married, of Peter's Arm, lost his life while engaged driving logs in Peter's River, Botwood.
Raymond Walsh, 24, of Holyrood, lost his life when truck he was driving turned over pinning him underneath.
Rev. Cannon Harris B. Monroe M.A. Dean of Southwark Cathedral, England, who was on his way here on a visit, disappeared from liner Berengaria.

Harold Gibbons, aged 25, unmarried, of St. Vincent's accidentally shot himself while bird hunting and died instantly.

Dispatch from Rome stated that 74 are dead and 400 injured as results of earthquake in the Island of Cos.

French giant hydroplane of the Marseilles-Beirut airline completely wrecked on mountain slope near Ossamarso and 8 occupants killed.

David Bentley, aged 61, while detaching wires from transformer during progress of a fire on Pleasant St., fell from pole and was killed.  Death due to heart failure and fracture skull.

Body of Bert Hinkler, Australian aviator who disappeared during March while attempting to create new record for the England to Australia flight , discovered badly smashed up 4,000 feet above sea level in Italian mountains.
Lifeless body of Thomas Doody of Melrose, aged 58 years, found floating in the waters of the harbor of St. John's.

Air liner city & Liverpool crashed at Dixmude, Flanders, with 15 victims.
James Coughlan burned to death in business car at Port Aux Basques.

Body of Lawrence Mooney, who with his two sons left St. Mary's to cut timber on May 3rd , recovered.

 Arthur Neal of Harbor Grace who broke his collar bone in a fall died at General Hospital.

Capt. Lewis Samson, of Flat island B. B. and 4 members of the crew of the schooner Lloyd Elsworth, lost their lives when boat loaded with freight for their schooner sank.

Azariah Payne of Shoal Brook, Bonne Bay committed Suicide by shooting.
JUNE 1933

Raymond, 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs Mouland, Mockbeggar, Bonavista, lost life by falling over wharf.

John Murphy, aged 72 years of Hamilton Street drowned in Black Duck pond.
James Kettle, aged 70 years, of  Grand Bay, Port Aux Basques, accidentally drowned when returning from fishing.

Raymond Hoffe, 24 , son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hoffe, changes Island, accidentally drowned.

Hooper Burt, of Samson's Island aged 13 years, accidentally drowned at Lewisporte by falling over wharf.

Ralph Potter, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Potter, fell between schooner and wharf at Bridgeport and was drowned.
JULY 1933

4 men named  Samuel Bungay, Owen Quann, Daniel Quann and William Ashford, who left Sagona for Brunette on the 1st, missing.

Body of Mrs. John Culleton who has been missing from Arnold's Cove Station since 5th., recovered.

Robert Hynes, married of Black Harbor, Twillingate drowned near Comfort Cove.

Albert Mayo, 17 Burin , drowned while swimming.

Hilda Tobin, of St. Mary's drowned by falling into a pond.

Capt Jesse Winsor, well known mariner, passed away as result of injuries received from fall when he was ice-pilot on S. S. Alice.

John R Sutton of St. Veronica's, aged 44 years, instantly killed at St. Alban's when derrick topping life broke whilst loading pulp on board S. S. Gypsum King..

Two brother named Belbin coming from Hant's Harbor to New Chelsea upset their boat.  Both were rescued but Harrison, aged 15, died afterwards.

Silas Jenkins aged 56 years, employee of Newfoundland Light & Power Co., sustained fracture skull by falling over the stairs in a Restaurant water St., and died while on way to the hospital.
SEPTEMBER 1933

Little 3 year old daughter of Mrs. Thomas Anderson, of Rocky  Barachoix, near Grand Bay, while playing with a gun was accidentally shot and instantly killed.

Samuel Blanchard, 27, of Brake's Cove, fell in stream and suffocated.
OCTOBER 1933

William King, boat Hr., P.B. married with four children, drowned in river near that place.
Walter Chipp, 7 son of Thomas Chipp, drowned at Shoe Cove Bight.
Isadore Garnier, 22, of Deer Lake, passed away at Corner Brook hospital, as results of injuries received in railway accident.

James Byrne of Deer Lake married, fatally crushed when pole of Buchans transmission line on which he was working fell carrying him with it.

Christopher Cullen and Joseph Walsh of Bacon cove, Conception Harbor, drowned at Comfort Bight on Labrador Coast while bring freight off from the shore in small boat to the S. S. Kyle.

Elijah Cassell, 16, of Harbor Deep, lost his life when huge whale rose under fishing boat lifting it on his back and capsizing it.

Charles Tavenor, mailman found dead on road near Trinity Junction.

George Gaulton, while cutting wood at Grand Bay Brook, slipped from a rock and was drowned

Body of William J Hickey found in waters of the dam on Witless Bay Line.

Garfield Tizzard, of Grand Bank, drowned while trying to rescue his brother Norman, who with another boy named Joshua Nurse were washed off the pier while watching the seas.

Thomas Ashman, 84, Lyons Square committee suicide by strangling himself with a necktie.

Noah White and Donald Clarke were driven to sea from Deep Water Creek, near Spare Harbor, Labrador, during progress of terrific storm.  Clarke belonged to Victoria Village.

Waston Evelly, 14 years, son of Joseph and Eliza Evelly, of Flatrock, Carbonear, found hanging by rope in his father stable.

Boy named Halliday who was apparently stealing a ride on a motor truck which was entering Job's Cove, B. D. V. , lost his life when he fell under the truck.
Matthew Kielly, formerly of Holyrood, but living at Sydney for past 12 year, lost his life when he slipped and fell between a train of pan cars.

Body of Mr. Alexander B. LeMessurier, aged 63, of Catherine St., found hanging by a rope in the testing room of the Custom House on the Kings Wharf.
Daniel Ralph a member of the fire department residing on Pennywell Road, was last seen on the night of the 17th leaving a café on Water Street, and since that moment has completely disappeared.
22 Alexander Thompson fatally injured by street car, died at Hospital.

Robert Coish, of Thomas, Bay de Verde died following kick by a horse.
DECEMBER 1933

Robert Way, aged 70 died suddenly on board schooner Lizza B. at Templeman, B.B.
John Murphy, of Brent's Cove while rabbit hunting accidently shot himself in the heart and died instantly.

Two Brothers, William John and Celestine Banfield, both married of St. Bernards drowned whilst tending to herring nets.
William Penney member of crew of schooner Thomas and Robert lost his life when he slipped and fell overboard.

Steamwe Culmore 469 tons of London , sank off shore of Alderburgh, Scotland and her crew of nine drowned.

George Hayward Parsons and Kenneth Parsons both of Bell Island, caught in blizzard while hauling their herring nest and not since heard of.

Body of aged man, name William Lush, of New Gower Street, found on Franklyn wharf by Maurice Norman member of the crew of schooner Laurel.

Schooner Monica Hartery, registered at St. John's total loss at rose Blanche Point and her captain and crew drowned.  Three bodies recovered and identified as those of Capt. Alex Keeping, Samuel Reddy and William Strickland.. Of Capt Dutton of Lead Cove and Albert Nell of Channel, not recovered,
Archbishop Leon Tourain head of the Armenian Church , North America, stabbed to death during church service at New York.
Definitely established that over 180 people were killed and 300 injured in one of the most frightful accidents in the history of steam locomotion when the Strasbourg Express two hours late owing to fog, dashed at 60 miles an hour into the stationary Paris-Nancy express at Lagny France.

Thomas Hurley of Blackhead Road lost his life in fall from the Railway trestle near the round house.
Christmas deaths in the United States exceeded 180 mostly motor accidents.

Sidney Gillingham , 34 married of Gander Bay, accidentally killed in mine at Buchans by a pressure explosion.
