Central Newfoundland - Gander District

Gander - Old Gander Cemetery

The Old Gander Cemetery was established during the second world war, and used as the only civilian cemetery for Gander up into the mid 1970's. It is located about 2km east of Gander and immediately adjacent to the Gander Commonwealth Grave. The site is well groomed and easily accessible by car. One is impressed by the relatively young age of many buried at this site, reflecting the relatively young age of Gander as a community.

Headstone inscriptions were transcribed by FRANK KING, August 1999. While I have endeavored to be as correct as humanly possible, there may be typographical errors.
