This cemetery is located on the corner of
Chapel Lane and Irishtown Road. There are about a dozen headstones
visible. In his book ""Brigus Past Glory, Present Splendour"" John Northway Leamon provides us with some historical information about this cemetery. Page 324 “ The first Roman Catholic parish church in Brigus was built by Dean Mackin in 1825, on land donated by James Hearn……..It stood on the site of what is now the Old Roman Catholic Cemetery, next to the Hearn House on Irishtown Road at Chapel Lane….” Leamon continues on by including the text of the earliest and latest headstones, which he transcribed as follows: Erected by James A.
