In re WILLIAM SPRACKLIN: DECEASED. In the name of God Amen- I William Spracklin of Cupids in Conception Bay Newfoundland being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God- And as touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and formFirst I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan the property which he now possesses and my part of the stable after my decease to be held by him as his undisputed right forever- Second the property on the North side I ordain to be divided into two equal portions between my two sons Jonathan and Saml after my decease- Third I give and bequeath to my son Saml my dwelling house and store with all appurtenances thereunto to become his property immediately after my decease and forever- My wife should she be my survivor is to live in her own house with Samuel and she is to be attended to in every possible manner so as to render her comfortable the remaining number of her days She is to have unrestricted recourse to house and all comforts therein as long as they are required and until her decease and what money I have is to be put in the possession of my wife to be used and disposed of by her as she may think proper. The piece of land extending from the pump to the end of the boundary on the hill I decree to become the property of my grandson Stephen Alexander, should he become Samuel*s survivor and immediately after Samuel*s decease I now appoint and constitute Messrs. William Noseworthy and John Smith to be my sole executors of this my last will and testament- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-fourth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy three- Signed William Spracklin (LS) Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said William Spracklin to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses, Signed Robert Pittman, William Noseworthy, John Smith. In the name of God Amen. I also give and bequeath to my granddaughter-in-law Mary Ann Spracklin one feather bed and bedding & I also give and bequeath to my own daughter Ann wife of George Spracklin of Brigus one feather-bed and bedding. Ledrow, William Whelan. o the testator in the presence of each of us and was at the same time declared by her to be her last will and testament and we at her request sign our names hereto in her presence and in the presence of each other as attesting witnesses, David Goff, Thomas Doyle.
