MEMORIAL OF A DEED OF GIFT OR GRANT FROM WILLIAM HOWELL TO HIS SISTER ELIZABETH PENNY, BOTH OF CARBONEAR – 1815
A Deed of Gift or Grant bearing day the first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between William Howell of Carbonear in the Island of Newfoundland, Carpenter, on the one part, and Elizabeth Penny of Carbonear of the other part, by which said Deed of Gift the said William Howell in consideration of natural affection and divers good causes and consideration, did give and grant unto his sister Elizabeth Penny aforesaid all his right, title and interest in a certain plot of land situated in Carbonear aforesaid, being bounded on the East by Robert Pack’s room, and the West by Robt. Howell’s room, and on the south by James Bennet’s Garden, and on the North by the woods. To have and enjoy to the said Elizabeth Penny, her Executors, Administrators, and assigns forever, which said Deed is witnessed by W.W. Bemister and Robert Pack, Merchants, both of Carbonear aforesaid. The due execution of the Deed of which the foregoing is a memorial was acknowledged before me by William Howell, a party thereto, on the twenty fifth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six, and the same is hereby actually Registered by me this day. Witness my hand at Harbor Grace, Newfoundland this first day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty six 1826. John Stark, Registrar
