Will of Thomas Seward

In re     THOMAS SEWARD.     DECEASED.

In the name of God Amen.

    I Thomas Seward of North River in the Dist of Port de Grave, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this is my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made.

I hereby appoint my son James Seward to be the executor of this my last will and testament. I give devise and bequeath to my wife Ellen Seward my dwelling house Stable Barn and all outhouses together with all live Stock, Carts Carriage and all appertenances belonging thereto, for the term of her natural life, after her decease the dwelling house, barn and outhouses to revert to my son Martin. The live Stock, Carts Carriage and all their appurtenances to be divided between my sons Martin and Thomas.
To my son Martin I give and bequeath the garden up the river the remainder of my land to be equally divided between my son Martin and Thomas, James to hold what he already occupies in addition to the Calfs pen and the land on South Side of river the lane leading to James Celler always to be left open. James is always to have the use of the road going to back land. The Caplin Seine and boat to remain the property of James. To my son Thomas a room in the dwelling house if required until such time as he gets a home house for himself.

I give devise and bequeath the sum of fifty dollars for Masses for the repose of my soul to be given to the Parish priest of North River, the like amount to be set aside for Masses for my wife. I give and bequeath Fifty dollars to buy a head stone that will serve myself and my wife. I give devise and bequeath the sum of Twenty dollars for Masses for the repose of the soul of my Brother James Seward and the residue of my money to go to my wife

Signed Sealed published and declared by said Thomas Seward as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses to the execution thereof this twenty fourth day of December A.D. Nineteen Hundred and Twenty four.
