In the name of God Amen I Thomas Roberts ? of the Harbor of Brigus Conception Bay Newfoundland Planter being very sick and weak is body but of perfect mind and memory. Thanks be given to God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die. Do make ad ordain this my last Will and Testament. Principally and first of all I give and commend my soul unto the hand of almighty God that gave it, and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner. First I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my dearly beloved wife the dwelling house and furniture, stone house, cow house, kitchen garden and the spot of ground at the back of the house now occupied by John Barnes during her life, after her decease to become my dearly beloved sons Noah Roberts. I also give and bequeath to my dearly beloved daughters Charlotte Spracklin, Sophia Percy, Grace Roberts and Ann Roberts, Twenty Pounds each to be paid out of the monies due me from Messers Gosse, Park and Fryer and from Mr. Joseph Gundry, Brandport, Dorset, England, and the balance I also give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife together with a cow and twelve silver tea spoons to be at her own disposal. To my dearly beloved son Stephen Roberts, I give and bequeath half of the Schooner Endeavor, half the cod seine half the caplin seine and half the salmon and herring nets, one five foot gun and one four and a half foot gun, half the Garden at the back of the Dwelling house, called the Grave Garden viz. The S.W. part, also one third of the stage and flakes. To my dearly beloved son Moses I give and bequeath half the Schooner Endeavor, half the code seine, half the caplin seine, half the salmon and herring nets, one five foot gun and one four foot gun, half the garden in the back of the Dwelling house call the Grave Garden viz. The N.W. part, also one third of the stage and flakes. I also give and bequeath to my dearly beloved sons Stephen and Moses Roberts, two gardens back one bounded on the E. and W. by Charles Sanders and the other called the Garden under the Rock to be divided by my Executors and lots each for it. Also I give the ? between them. Moreover to my son Noah I give and bequeath one third of the stage and flakes, also two Gardens both, one that I purchased from Mr. Best, and the other called Capet Garden, the under mentioned persons I also appoint as my Executor.
