In re THOMAS MORRISSEY: DECEASED. I Thomas Morrissey of Brigus Fisherman do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament.First It is my will that immediately after my death all my land property dwelling house and premises known as the South Farm shall be sold and out of the proceeds of such sale it is my will that all my lawful debts be paid. First the sum of forty nine pounds currency which I owe to Mr. Patrick Nowlan of Brigus at the present time and whatever further sum I may owe him between this date and the time of my decease with my funeral expenses &c. Second If anything should remain after paying Mr. Patrick Nowlan the full amount of his claim against me It is my will that it shall be disposed of as follows 1st I give and bequeath to my executors seven pounds for the erection of a head stone- 2nd I give and bequeath to Ellen Martin five pounds- 3rd I give and bequeath to very Revd Edward O’Keeffe five pounds for Masses for the good of my soul and if anything should remain after paying the above named bequests I give and bequeath it to Father O’Keeffe for Masses also- It is my will and desire that the Brigus Nuns shall get five pounds out of proceeds of my property- I hereby appoint John Hearn and John Martin to be my executors to this my last will and testament. Witness my hand and seal at Brigus this 31st day January 1870. Thomas his X mark Morrissy (LS) Signed & sealed by the testator in (being first read over and explained) presence of us and we in presence of each other have hereunto set our hands as witnesses thereto, Michael Nowlan, John Hearn. I Thomas Morrissey do hereby add the following codicil to my last will and testament first I give and bequeath to Thomas Fitzgerald Carpenter or his heirs, Killnacastle near Dungarvon Ireland, the sum of one pound Second I give and bequeath to Ellen martin the further sum of ten pounds. Third- I give and bequeath to Father O’Keeffe a further sum of five pounds for Masses for my father Thomas Morrissey my mother Johanna Morrissey my brother John Morrissey and my niece Johanna Morrissey Fourth I give and bequeath to the poor of Brigus ten pounds and if anything should remain after the foregoing bequests are paid I give and bequeath it to Father O’Keeffe Parish priest of Brigus for Masses for my soul- Signed this sixth day of February 1871 after being first read over and explained to the testator.
