 Petition of Edward St. John concerning the Estate of James St. John

 

To the Honourable the Supreme Court or one of the Honourable the Judges thereof.

The Petition of Edward St. John of Conception Harbor, Planter.

Humbly sheweth that your Petitioner’s son James St. John, late of Conception Harbor died at Port Saunders Hawke’s Bay, West Coast - Newfoundland in the year 1887.That deceased died intestate leaving him as next of kin six children all infants under the age of twenty one years. Three of the said infants are in the Orphanage at St. Michaels’s St. John’s – two with your petitioner and two living with Wm? St. John, St. John’s.That the wife of the said James St. John pre-deceased him.

That the deceased was possessed of property at the time of his death of the probably value of three hundred and seventy dollars.

That there are certain debts aforesaid still? Which cannot be collected without a legal representative.

That neither Probate of any will nor Administration to the Estate and effects of deceased has yet been granted to anyone.

Your Petitioner therefore prays that Administration to the estate and effects of the deceased may be granted Petitioner as father of the deceased. And as in duty bound he will ever pray.
