This is the last will and testament of me Robert Benjamin Wilcox of Brigus, Conception Bay, in the Island of Newfoundland, Planter, hereby revoking all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made     First, I give bequeath and devise unto my wife Eliza in trust for my son Charles Ladner during the term of her natural life. All my share of the property waterside and otherwise situate and being on the south side of Brigus that I at present reside on and as the same shall appear by the will of the late Mrs. Mercer:     But should my wife Eliza marry then the same shall become the property of my son Charles Ladner immediately
Second I nominate and appoint my father-in-law William A. Green, sole executor to this my last will and testament and I hereby authorize and direct him as early as possible, but without loss, to sell by private sale or otherwise as he shall see best for all concerned All my fishing gear and tackle and also my stage and any other erection of mine, that is now or may be at Comfort Bight Labrador,     And also the small cod trap and herring Bunt that is at present in Mr. Burks store Brigus belonging to me-     I also authorize and direct him (the said executor) to sell my share of my late father’s fishing room houses stores &c. situate also at Comfort Bight aforesaid the same to be kept on hire until a favourable sale be effected.     And furthermore I desire and request my executor with the consent of my wife Eliza to sell this Brigus South Side property Should they be able to do so to advantage but not otherwise and the proceeds of such sale shall be invested in the purchase of a piece of ground in a central business part of the town of Brigus aforesaid and a dwelling house forthwith erected thereon.     The said property if bought to become the property of my son Charles Ladner as in the first place bequeathed and devised     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Brigus aforesaid this nineteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three.     Robert Benjamin Wilcox (LS)     Signed sealed published and delivered by the said testator on the day of the date hereof in our presence and in the presence of each other who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses attesting the due execution thereof, George Gushue J.P.     Moses Clarke.
