Mortgage

Memorial of an Instrument bearing date the twenty fifth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and thirty, whereby Moses Butt Senr., Moses Butt Junr., William Butt and John Butt for and in consideration of their owing unto Rennie Stewart & Co of Saint Johns, Merchants, the sum of twenty six pounds seven shillings and five pence, did assign and makeover unto the said Rennie Stewart and Company, “All their right, title and interest in a certain Room and Plantation situate in Broad Cove, Conception Bay, with House, Garden and other appurtenances as occupied by the said Moses Butt, Moses Butt, William Butt, and John Butt”, and who agree to pay unto the said Rennie Stewart and Company the sum of ten guineas sterling yearly by the tenth day of September in each year, as rent of the said Room or Plantation, until the said sum of twenty six pounds even shillings and five pence shall be paid, then the said agreement shall be null and void.

I hereby certify that the execution of the Instrument of which this page contains a memorial was acknowledged before me by Moses Butt Junior, a party thereto, on the eighteenth day of November at fifty five minutes after one oclock in the afternoon, in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty, and the same is hereby actually Registered by me this day.

Given under my hand at the Registrar of Deeds Office, Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, this third day of January, one thousand eight hundred and thirty one (1831).
