Land Record of Moses Butt of Freshwater (1838)

MOSES BUTT TO CHARLES BUTT & JOHN BUTT & WILLIAM BUTT – 1838

Memorial of a Deed bearing date the eighteenth day of May, in the year of one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, whereby Moses Butt of Freshwater near Carbonear, for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds currency to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is acknowledged, did bargain, sell and deliver unto Charles Butt and John Butt of Freshwater aforesaid "All that certain plot and parcel of land situate lying and being at Freshwater aforesaid, bounded on the East and South by the public road or Street, on the West by Roger Butt’s land and on the North by Stephen Parson’s land, and unto William Butt of Perry’s Cove, all that plot and parcel of land and Fishing Room adjoining the former, bounded on the East by Charles Butt’s land, on the West by Roger Butt’s land, on the North by the aforesaid public road or Street and on the South by the Sea, on which latter part is a cellar and part of a Dwelling House, together with his right in and to a Fishing Stage with his brothers Roger and Aaron Butt, who are joint proprietors thereof with him, the said Moses Butt.”

The said Moses Butt covenants to keep the said Charles Butt, John Butt and William Butt, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns in possession thereof forever.

I hereby certify that the execution of the Deed of which the foregoing is a Memorial was acknowledged before me by Moses Butt, party thereto, on the eighteenth day of May at 6 p.m. in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight AD 1838, and the same is hereby actually Registered by me this day.

Given under my hand at the Registrar of Deeds Office, Harbor Grace, this twenty sixth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight AD 1838.
