The Petition of Moses Parsons and Robert Parsons of Harbor Grace Planters sons of Jane Parsons Widow of Robert Parsons late of Harbor Grace Planter our Father and Mother both deceased

Humbly Sheweth

That Jane Parsons our Mother aforesaid departed her life in the month of March last past leaving her surviving nine Children Eight sons & one daughter all of full age asunder

That the deceased left some money in the hands of Messrs Park Gosse and Figer and Messrs Ridley and sons that require the case of Administration of the [-] value of Two hundred and twenty pounds currency; And your petitioners with the consent of their brothers and sisters hereunto [-] and humbly pray your lordships to grant administration of their said Mothers estate to your petitioners who as in duty bound will ever pray

We the undersigned Sons & Daughter of Jane Parsons deceased late of Harbor Grace Widow of Robert Parsons our late father hereby request the Honorable the Supreme Court will commit Administration of our said Mothers Estate to our brothers Moses Parsons & Robert Parsons.

Be it Remembered, That on this Twenty Third day of May in the Seventeenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c., and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty four 1854 personally appeared

Moses Parsons and Robert Parsons of Harbor Grace Planters Sons of Jane Parsons deceased and William Parsons and Ambrose Parsons also of Harbor Grace Planters Sons and Brothers of the aforesaid

and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Four hundred and fifty Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain, to be had, made, and levied on their Goods, Chattels, and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the Conditions following :

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above boundens Moses Parsons and Robert Parsons as Administrators of the Estate and Effects of Jane Parsons their Mother late of Harbor Grace Widow deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a just, true and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits, and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of them the said Moses Parsons and Robert Parsons as such Administrators or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons, for them and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the Twenty third day of November next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits, and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits, and Effects of the said deceased; at the time of her death, or which at any time afterwards shall come to the hands or possession of them the said Moses Parsons and Robert Parsons or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for them shall well and truly Administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to made, a just and true Account of their said Administration, on or before the Twenty third day of May which will be in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty five and afterwards from time to time as they shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits, and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in a due course of Administration, or in such manner as the said Court shall direct; then this Obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.

To Wit.

We do swear that we believe Jane Parsons our Mother late of Harbor Grace Widow of Robert Parsons our late Father of Harbor Grace Planter deceased, died with out a Will; and that we will well and truly Administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased, and pay her Debts so far as her Goods will extend; and that we will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of our Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within Twelve months from the date hereof, or when we shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits, and Effects of the said deceased, which she died possessed of, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of our knowledge, judgement, and belief, amount to the value of Two hundred and twenty Pounds sterling.

Sworn at Harbor Grace the Twenty third day of May in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty four A.D. 1854
